Seeing Langton healthy made my heart full - Tobin

Gymnast Adam Tobin said it "made his heart full" to see his English team-mate Gabriel Langton healthy and walking after a shocking fall at the Commonwealth Games on Friday.

Langton fell three metres to the floor after missing his catch on the horizontal bar in an incident which overshadowed England's silver medal in the men's team gymnastics final.

The 19-year-old was cleared of serious injury on Saturday and was back at Glasgow International Arena on Sunday to support Tobin and Luke Whitehouse in the men's all-around final.

"I think it was a moment for all of us as a team, seeing him walk into that hotel and put the medal over his neck, because we didn't know what was going on after his fall," Tobin, 25, told BBC Sport.

"He left and then we had a job to do. So since then, we didn't really know what was going on. It made my heart full seeing him walk in healthy and getting that medal round his neck, which he deserved.

"He's back in the team, I heard him in the crowd earlier, so it's just nice to have him back. I'm extremely happy that he's fit and healthy."

Tobin, who is from Devon and trains in Nottingham, narrowly missed out on a bronze medal by just 0.200 points to Australian Jesse Moore in a dramatic men's all-around final.

Scotland's Reuben Ward took the gold medal on home soil, while Canadian Felix Dolci's remarkable late comeback earned him silver and Whitehouse finished seventh.

Tobin has three more attempts to secure another medal with the pommel horse, rings and parallel bars finals still to come.

"Of course I'm gutted," Tobin added. "It's two tenths away from being on that podium, but I left it all out there.

"It's a bit of a tough pill to swallow, but I'm walking away happy. It came down to the fine margins in the end. Too close."
