Lewis Hamilton is holding a gap of about 1.3 seconds to leader Kimi Antonelli, so Kimi is not exactly disappearing into the distance.

The gap between Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton is now 1.5 seconds. Can Hamilton find power in the Ferrari to lead again?

The racing is an incredibly tactical and complicated business now, using these heavily battery-orientated power units.

Lando Norris was speaking to Sky Sports earlier, saying the other cars are faster.

But here he is comfortably in third at his home race. There's battles in front of him and behind him.

The top three are Kimi Antonelli, Lewis Hamilton and Norris.

Liam Lawson's Racing Bulls is in the spot for the last points in the sprint race.

I'm looking at the gap between Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton and Kimi has stretched it out to 1.4 seconds, so he's broken that one-second advantage you get by being behind.

It was also be interesting to see if Charles Leclerc can now catch George Russell for fourth place.

And just past the Lando stand is where Charles Leclerc overtakes Max Verstappen.

Antonelli keeps the spot at the front of the race for now, he is building the gap between himself and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, it's just over a second now.

Honestly, what a cracking start to a sprint race, this has been a joy to watch. If these regulations get ironed out throughout this season, I'm sure we are going to see plenty of action and overtakes!

  8. 'Can Hamilton hang on to Antonelli?'published at 12:19 BST

    Damon Hill

Lewis Hamilton had to use too much of his battery to defend, and the cars do slow dramatically once they lose that battery power. The question now is, can he hang on to Kimi Antonelli?

    Lap 10/17

The battle between George Russell and Max Verstappen continues and Russell manages to overtake and claim fourth, but Charles Leclerc has caught up to the pair.

  11. 'Sprint has been frantic'published at 12:18 BST

    Damon Hill
1996 world champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at Silverstone

So far, the sprint has been frantic. We're having to try and understand where the energy deployment comes from, and the way that they discharge their battery is strategic. It's very difficult from the outside to tell when they're doing it, so the racing has been a little bit 'yo-yoing'.

  12. Antonelli leadspublished at 12:17 BST

    Lap 9/17

He's done it, Kimi Antonelli manages to find some power in his Mercedes and overtakes Lewis Hamilton to lead the race.

Can Hamilton take it back? He's a second behind the Mercedes man.

Meanwhile, George Russell and Max Verstappen are battling for the fourth spot. Verstappen keeps the spot for now.

The gaps come and go now depending on how drivers deploy their battery. Lewis Hamilton is actually weaving now down the Wellington straight, trying to the break the tow to Kimi Antonelli.

Kimi Antonelli is fighting to overtake Lewis Hamilton, those two are having a lovely little battle up front.

He tries to overtake Hamilton into Village but Hamilton manages to defend it.

We are expecting to see lots of overtaking because of the energy management situation. If you boost past someone on one straight, you don't have the energy on the next.

Silverstone does not disappoint and it is only just the sprint race!

The Williams of Alex Albon has jumped up from last spot to 18th. The Williams have a lovely British Grand Prix livery this weekend.

Lewis Hamilton has the view of a speedy Kimi Antonelli in his rearview mirror. The young Mercedes driver is just seven tenths of a second behind the sprint race leader.

Lando Norris is defending the last podium spot from Max Verstappen.

Amazing recovery from Max Verstappen, who lost a lot of places at the start. He is fighting back but the question is, has he used up too much of his battery in certain parts of the race? He has attacked brilliantly. The 'yo-yo racing' effect is there, defintely.
