  2. Back for FP3 and qualifying on Saturday from 11:15 BSTpublished at 17:21 BST

It feels increasingly like the fight for pole position in Monaco will be a strictly Ferrari affair tomorrow,

Lewis Hamilton ends Friday with the best time in his pocket but Charles Leclerc, who was quickest in the opening hour, was only a fraction behind in second practice.

I asked at 16:40 who your money would be on to take pole on Saturday if the shootout ends up between the two Scuderia drivers and the overwhelming majority of you picked Hamilton for the front-row spot.

    ThumbsImage source, .

But maybe don't count out Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who was closest to the Ferraris in both session.

Thanks for all your Monte Carlo messages, folks.

We'll be back tomorrow from 11:15 BST to build up to FP3.

The most important qualifying of the campaign then goes green at 15:00.

    Bye for now!

Michel: Was in Ste Devote 50y ago. Overtaking already impossible at the time. Niki Lauda won from pole.

Yvonne: I went to the 1995 Monaco Grand Prix. Lovely sunny day, fabulous atmosphere. After the race while everyone was milling around I literally bumped into Diego Maradona. Thick gold chain round his neck and a leggy blonde on his arm.

Christopher: Been to Monaco a few years ago and the race seems to be an inconvenience for most of the so-called beautiful people that attend. The marshals are absolute legends and seeing the cars thread their way between the barriers is mind blowing.

Lee: Went in 2010 for my 30th. Made the mistake of not buying a ‘fake team’ cushion from the many stalls on the walk to the track from the train station on the Saturday. Those plastic benches are hard on your bum!! Didn’t make the same mistake on Sunday!

Alistair: There's nothing quite like Monaco to appreciate the artistry of a Grand Prix driver...the view, and proximity to the cars at Le Nautic (near the swimming pool) is unbeatable...add the food, wine, weather, glamour, road cars and coastline...it's paradise. Been 20 times since '95. Hopefully be back again soon.

Tom: 1966 first foreign holiday was Monaco GP. Freddie Laker Carvair from Southend, coach all the way to Monaco. Little money so lived on French bread and cheese. Sat on the wall at Station Hairpin, saw and heard the BRM H16 and mad Ferrari fans every time a Ferrari came past.

Perez out of the carpublished at 16:59 BST

With the marshals on the scene, Sergio Perez safely exits his Cadillac and walks away from his car.

The Mexican told his pit wall: "There is a lot of smoke in the cockpit", and when asked to bring the car back, Perez informed his engineer he need to stop - now.

Sergio Perez's brakes are on fire and the Cadillac driver has to come to a stop at Casino Square. He gets the marshals' attention quick and one runs over with a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.

Oscar Piastri is the only McLaren left on track following Lando Norris' issue ealier on but the Australian hasn't cracked the top five in this session and is sat in seventh on the timesheets.

Lance Stroll goes straight on at the Nouvelle Chicane as the front of his Aston Martin refuses to play ball. The Canadian is down at the bottom of the pile, with team-mate Fernando Alonso two places higher in P20.

Often McLaren are a little bit offset on Fridays in terms of pace, running a different fuel load than the others, but they are not looking that great at the moment.

Lewis Hamilton has got a fancy purple-pink race helmet on this weekend, a change from the usual yellow design. The seven-time world champion heads into the pits, with a little bit of a lock-up, and then starts to signal to his team when he comes to a stop. Seems like he's not happy with something on the car and wants an adjustment.

A view looking at the Monaco Grand Prix circuitImage source, Dave

Dave (Cornishman in Monaco): Sat by the swimming pool complex yesterday but no tickets for the rest of the weekend. Fanzone & this view for me (above).

Rick: My family bought my wife and me tickets for lunch in the Cafe de Paris during the 2016 GP for my 70th! What a day: what a race! Started in a downpour, then finished in hot sun! Hamilton won, Verstappen crashed right in front of us!

Martin: Went to Monaco in the years '95,'96 & '97. First time driving into the Principality and hearing the sound of the V10 & V12 engines bouncing off the walls was an experience i will never forget. Additionally, only four finishers in '96 with Olivier Panis winning out of nowhere.
