Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, speaking to Sky Sports, on losing P2: "I don't really remember, I was I P2, then we stopped. We couldn't have predicted that [safety car], we did what we thought was right."

"Congrats to Charles, he did a great job today. All the magic that I had on Friday disappeared over the weekend. I went through a yellow flag and I didn't see it and jumped the start. When it rains it pours."

    "I'll probably get a penalty, I'm sure."

Why on earth did Ferrari call in both cars during the final safety car period? Lewis lost 2nd.

Being very cynical, Hamilton was robbed of another chance to win his home grand prix, just like his 8th title!

Mercedes' George Russell, after finishing in second place: "Firstly, congratulations to Charles, he drove a good race. Great to be here at Silverstone, my first podium, so really pleased to be standing here. Even though it was a very lucky race, I had the puncture but I was lucky to get the safety car at the end."

"It would've been great for the fans for it to have restarted. But, by the end my tyres were stone cold, so I was glad to bring it home in second. Tough weekend but overall, good to be standing here.."

"In qualifying, we had some straight line speed issues. I don't know if it was still there in the race but I'm going to keep pushing. These Ferrari guys look really quick, game on."

  5. 'This is just so fantastic' - Hamiltonpublished at 17:26 BST

Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton who finished the British Grand Prix in third: "Firstly a big, big congratulations to Charles, winning at this grand prix is such a special experience and this is a great result for our team. Congratulations to our team. I just didn't have it today, I jumped the start, got a five second penalty but Charles had the pace on me today. I struggled with the balance of the car, I gave it everything and I am grateful to be up here."

On whether Ferrari can take the fight to the Mercedes: "I mean it looks like it. I am not really sure what happened to Kimi but the team is doing a phenomenal job. We have some work still to do to really close the gap on pure performance. Look at these results, two wins this year, this is just so fantastic."

  6. 'I am so incredibly happy' - Leclercpublished at 17:23 BST

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc who has won the British Grand Prix: "It feels incredible. Unfortunately the end was maybe not the one I will have dreamt of but I mean to win after the last few weekends that have been particularly difficult. All the work we put in to try and get the feeling back in the car, it felt like I found something yesterday between the sprint race and qualifying but I had to confirm that today and today the feeling was back where it needs to be. I am so incredibly happy."

On having a reset: "After Monaco the feeling wasn't there, I crashed in Q3 and then in the race an issue that ended the race and then Saturday in Barcelona the feeling was good but then I crashed again. That was very difficult mentally and then on Sunday we had an issue with the car and Austria wasn't so great but here we managed to put everything together. I really hope I can keep that momentum going forwards. A huge thank you to the team for working so hard."

Let's have a look at what the top three had to say.

Now, these interviews are from right after the race, but Lewis Hamilton has just being doing the rounds in the media pen and seems pretty deflated. While he stressed he doesn't know the outcome of his yellow flag infringement investigation, he seems pretty certain he is going to get a penalty.

  9. 'Software error' caused safety car confusionpublished at 17:13 BST

The FIA has released a statement to clear up what happened with the safety car at the end of the British Grand Prix.

"The Safety Car period regulation, Article B5. 13.5, states that one lap must be completed following the unlapping procedure.

"This process was followed by Race Operations. The “Safety Car In This Lap” message was displayed erroneously due to a software error."

It's been a long wait for Charles Leclerc to get back on the top step of the podium but the Monegasque driver comes out to applause from the Silverstone crowd as the race winner for the first time - and he can't hide his delight.

The fans are flocking to get a good spot to watch the celebrations unfold - loads are wearing their fluorescent Lando Norris t-shirts - and after the Monaco national anthem, it's time to belt out the Italian one.

That gold trophy is a beauty. Leclerc lifts it above his head and the Ferrari crew below cheer.

The two Brits on the podium get the loudest roars from the fans - and now you can soak each other.

  18. Antonelli ends Silverstone in P16published at 16:43 BST

This has been a rotten Sunday for championship leader Kimi Antonelli. His late car troubles and then a five-second time penalty has dropped him down to 16th at the chequered flag, so he doesn't even pick up a point in round nine.
