All of them looking on the raggedy edge and completely committed. I'm wondering if they are going to do more laps or they are just going to come in now after one run. This is now really starting to show up the guys with real potential.

Charles Leclerc had a moment close to the barriers at Massenet and had to abort his lap, so the Monegasque man has gone out early from P10 - the only car on track at the moment - to get a better time on the board.

I sometimes think this is like a ritual, the last 10 minutes or so of qualifying in Monaco is what everything is about. This is not just for pole position, this is for a victory. This is for the Grand Prix, this is for everything and they have to drive out of their skin to perfection or they will get beaten.

We have been watching George Russell struggle and he is a long way off the pace, eight tenths off Max Verstappen, the quickest time in Q2, half a second off Kimi Antonelli.

I've just asked Mercedes what is going on, is he struggling as much as he appears to be and they are saying he has reported a lack of grip and therefore does not have the confidence to push as much as he needs to.

Once you get into Q3, it is down to the individual. The make up of the individual, whether or not they can knit it all together, whether they can hold it together and concentrate.

It is quite good that Lewis came in and made a little adjustment with the new tyres, so he is now really getting his eye in for what the car will be like on new tyres going into Q3. He is almost certainly going to get through to Q3 without too much of a problem but he wants to see what he can do now.
