    I'm a massive Hamilton fan but what's he thinking there? You don't ignore the team like that and drive in an unsafe condition. Letting his general frustration with the general team orders run over into bad decision making.

    That will be session done for Lewis Hamilton. He's done the right thing by pulling over. And the FIA will have been on the radio to the team to say, you better stop that car now, otherwise you're going to have a big fine coming your way.

    Hamilton: "If I can make it back I will. If not, I will do it safely."

    "Engineer: We have a puncture on the front right."

    Lewis Hamilton has finally stopped his Ferrari in a safe place and is up and out of his car.

    He tried to make it back safely to the pits but was not able to.

    He's getting a trip back to the pits on the back of the moped.

    Lewis Hamilton just snatched the front of the car and he went straight into the wall. He did go in straight - and that front wing is going to trapped underneath the car as he makes his way back to the pits, pretty much a whole lap.

    Lewis Hamilton's engine is still going. The Ferrari man has managed to reverse and drive on. But his front wing is under his car and he doesn't seem to be aware just yet.

    His engineer has been on the radio to tell him to stop the car.

    Lewis Hamilton has put his car into the barriers on the final corner of the track.

    He locked up and went into the barriers. His front wing seems to be broken. Oh no!

  9. Kimi Antonelli popped his car right at the top of the leaderboard. He is 0.620 seconds ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Lovely drive that.

    Lando Norris' McLaren gets into second spot moments later.

    We are loving the Madring, sat at Turn 13 currently. The cars fly out of Monumental & arrive here with plenty of momentum. I expect more incidents for sure. HUGE cheers for Alonso every time he passes by.

  11. The Ferraris have joined the pack and where have they placed themselves on the leaderboard? The top two.

    Lewis Hamilton is the fastest driver with a lap time of 1:34.284 and team-mate Charles Leclerc is just 0.149 seconds behind.

    But that won't last for long. Here comes Kimi Antonelli...

    This weekend will be Fernando Alonso's 29th grand prix in Spain.

  15. Fernando Alonso has put his car into third place in final practice. Lovely stuff from the Aston Martin.

    Alex Albon has been on the radio to say his car has touched the wall and takes his Williams back to the garage.

    Everyone else out on track is on the soft compound.

    Liam Lawson, who is stepping into the Red Bull for Isack Hadjar, has the hard tyres bolted on.

    Lawson puts his car second fastest on the board, behind Nico Hulkenberg.

    Arvid Lindblad's car is up in the air and on its stands, and Racing Bulls are working underneath it. So he certainly won’t be going out at the beginning of the session.

    I have asked the team what they're up to: whether this is just repair work carried over from yesterday. Now that would seem slightly strange, but whatever they're doing, it's taking a while, and he won't be ready to go out.

  18. The two Aston Martins, the Williams, Valtteri Bottas and Franco Colapinto have joined the Audis.

    Nico Hulkenberg has set the fastest lap time so far, it's a 1:35.721 for the Audi.

    The weather forecast for Saturday in Madrid is set to be warm with light winds and zero chance of rain.

    For final practice session, the temperature is set to be between 21-23C.

    Temperatures will rise later for qualifying, reaching highs of 31C.

  20. 'Hard to overtake at Madring'

    None of the frontrunners used the hard tyre during free practice yesterday; the Mercedes drivers concentrated on the medium compound for their longer runs. along with Lewis Hamilton.

    Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen did their longer runs on a slightly newer soft tyre, and if you're doing a long run on a soft, that shows a confidence that the tyre is going to stay underneath them.

    In the Formula 3 race earlier, tyre degradation wasn't really a massive thing when it usually is. So that will be interesting with strategy.

    I do think it's going to be hard to overtake here.
