I think that with Manchester United we're seeing the lack of summer transfer activity or "development of youth" coming back to bite them. Not to mention the untimely change of manager just before the start of the season.

It's been an one-sided affair so far in Leigh, as the numbers suggest.

    Man Utd 0-2 Chelsea HT stats: Possession 32.8 v 67.2, shots 1 v 10, on target 1 v 4, xG 0.1 v 0.8

Smooth sailing for Chelsea so far.

Sonia Bompastor's side are 2-0 up with goals from Sjoeke Nusken and Keira Walsh.

Manchester United have simply failed to match the quality the Blues have offered.

I thought Lauren James hit the strike early but she still managed to force Tullis-Joyce into a save.

    Man Utd 0-2 Chelsea

Lauren James looks to curl one past from the edge of the box and Phallon Tullis-Joyce matches it with a good save.

But the danger is not clear as Ellie Carpenter is there to pounce on the loose ball. However, it is a good block from Andrea Medina to deny the Chelsea full-back a certain goal.

    Man Utd 0-2 Chelsea

It's not been an easy afternoon for Manchester United full-back Andrea Medina in particular.

Chelsea have regularly searched for Ellie Carpenter and her overlapping runs on that right wing today.

Elisabeth Terland's tame effort in the 10th minute remains Manchester United's only effort of the game so far. Eva Olid will be hoping for improvements from her players in the second half.

We have strikers, they’re just injured. Malard is a good signing from Utd and Ramirez to hopefully come back. Keep the faith.

    Peter, Bicester

Confident that we will be scoring plenty of goals once Malard is back from injury. An immense striker.

From the resulting corner, Lauren James tries to find the top corner from outside the box.

But the Chelsea attacker's radar has been slightly off so far this afternoon.

    Man Utd 0-2 Chelsea

Chelsea continue to camp themselves in the final third.

Hinata Miyazawa looks to have kept the ball in play after winning possession on the right wing but the assistant referee deems the ball to have gone out and award a corner-kick to the Blues.

Exciting game? Not really. Playing out from the back and too many passes going sideways from United. We need to hit it up the front and we need to do it now!

Any way back for Manchester United now? You highly doubt so.

Chelsea have been back to their best today after their faltering start last week.

This is terrific from Lucy Bronze and it is even better from Keira Walsh. I don't think there will be anyone better on the edge of the box, than Walsh, that was emphatic and clean.

Just like that, Chelsea double their advantage.

Manchester United manage to head out another of Chelsea's crosses into the box but it is recycled to Keira Walsh at the edge of the box.

She takes one touch and then places her right-foot effort just past the dive of Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

What a way to mark the England midfielder's 100th WSL appearance.

It has been an entertaining half hour of football so far in Leigh.

Chelsea are on top and probing for a second but you feel Manchester United have the quality to hurt them on the break.

    Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea

Chelsea are once again stringing together some intricate passes in and around the Manchester United box.

They find Ellie Carpenter on the right but the Australia international's cross is wayward this time.

Good start for Chelsea for now. I still feel like they will have to go in the transfer market this winter for a true number nine.

Manchester United are looking for a quick response.

And they have a corner-kick to test the Chelsea defence but make a mess of it.

But Monica Jusu Bah is flagged offside after taking it short and receiving the ball back.
