Chelsea are exploring potential loan moves for Mykhailo Mudryk as he looks to rebuild his fitness after 20 months out of football.

The Ukraine international, 25, has not played a competitive match since November 2024 after being suspended for returning an adverse finding for the banned substance meldonium.

However, the winger has since returned with substitute appearances in pre-season friendlies against Juventus, AC Milan and Johor Darul Ta'zim during Chelsea's tour of Asia after a settlement was reached to end his ban.

In meetings at the end of the tour, Mudryk agreed to leave on loan before the transfer deadline on 1 September.

A move to Strasbourg, which shares the same BlueCo ownership as Chelsea, has been proposed, but Mudryk would prefer a move to another English top-flight club.

Several other clubs have also emerged as potential destinations, including a number of leading sides in Italy.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa are in talks over a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha.

The Portugal international, 31, became a target for Villa after Amadou Onana suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his right knee while playing for Belgium at the World Cup.

Sources close to Palhinha say he has yet to make a decision but is open to a move to Villa Park, which is regarded as among his best options.

Bayern are willing to let him leave two years after signing him for £47.4m from Fulham.

Palhinha was on loan at Tottenham last season but the north London club opted against triggering their £26m option to buy.

"Joao Palhinha is a very good player who would fit our plans," Villa director of football Damian Vidagany told German outlet Bild on Friday.

"We are in talks, but there is currently no agreement. If something were to happen, it would always be based on the great respect we have for Bayern."

Enzo Fernandez is due back in Chelsea training today after flying in from his holiday in Ibiza yesterday.

There are again rumours that Manchester City could make a move for him.

Chelsea's stance has remained consistent. Their asking price remains £120m should any club want to sign him, acknowledging that the Argentina international is open to a move.

However, Chelsea will not budge on that valuation and both Xabi Alonso and the club as a whole would be happy to reintegrate him into the squad this season.

Manchester City

Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez is reportedly a target for Manchester City as the Etihad outfit seek midfield solutions ahead of the new season.

It's unclear whether Rodri will stay amid interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona - while Tijani Reijnders could also depart.

City want 18-year-old Moroccan star Ayyoub Bouaddi but are yet to reach an agreement with Lille.

Fernandez has emerged as a target, according to The Athletic.

The Argentine has a strong working relationship with former Chelsea boss Maresca but, while there is a focus on departures at Chelsea following the £117m purchase of Morgan Rogers, the Blues reportedly believe that Fernandez will remain in West London.

West Ham United

West Ham have completed the signing of winger Manor Solomon from Tottenham on a three-year contract.

The Championship club did not disclose the fee, but the Hammers are understood to have paid about £5m to make the Israel international their third permanent signing of the summer.

Solomon, 27, made 19 appearances for Italian side Fiorentina on loan last season.

He also spent time on loan at Leeds United and Spanish club Villarreal after joining Spurs in 2023.

"I know West Ham have a rich history both in the Premier League and in Europe," said Solomon, who will wear the number 10 shirt for the side gearing up for their first season outside the top flight since 2011-12.

West Ham have been busy bees - as well as moving for Reiss Nelson, they have already confirmed the signing of another winger this weekend just gone...

West Ham and Arsenal are in talks about a potential move for winger Reiss Nelson.

Both a loan move and a permanent departure are being discussed and the 26-year-old is into the last year of his contract at Arsenal.

Nelson has spent the last two seasons on loan at Fulham and Brentford and is not in manager Mikel Arteta's plans for this season.

The winger was an unused substitute in Arsenal's 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund in their friendly on Sunday.

West Ham are looking to strengthen their squad as they look to get out of the Championship at the first time of asking but it remains to be seen if Nelson can be convinced to drop down to that division.

Southampton

After announcing his move to Fulham, Shea Charles has thanked Southampton and their fans on Instagram:

"Thank you Southampton for the last three years.

"To my teammates, coaches and managers who helped me I will always be thankful. We shared some special memories together. And for the fans who supported us through the ups and downs, I am so grateful.

A full international before he had made his senior debut at club level, Shea Charles' journey to becoming Northern Ireland's most expensive footballer has been nothing short of rapid.

The then Manchester City academy starlet was called into Ian Baraclough's Nations League squad in June 2022 as an 18-year-old and has since established himself as a key player for his country.

Winning 35 caps, he has only missed three games since making his debut - and has become a mainstay in central midfield for Northern Ireland under Michael O'Neill, who returned to the manager's job in 2022.

Speaking in June during Northern Ireland's international friendlies with Guinea and France, O'Neill said that Shea can "play in the Premier League, there's no doubt about that," and now we'll see.

Everton

Brennan Johnson speaking to club media upon signing a deal with Everton that runs until June 2030:

Everton

Everton's newest signing Brennan Johnson tells club media what he will offer fans:

"I want to bring all of my attributes.

"First and foremost, I'll work for the team, the fans, and represent the club properly. I know that's something that's definitely appreciated and a non-negotiable here. They can expect that from me.

"On top of that, I think I can bring speed, goals and everything I've got.

"The incredible fanbase that Everton has, whether it's home or away, is something I've always felt. It's a massive honour to be here and play for them now."

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said of Dwight McNeil's arrival: “It is wonderful to finally welcome Dwight – a player with proven ability in the Premier League – to South London. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action at Selhurst Park.”

McNeil said: “I'm really happy to be here, and looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“The lads have had some great success over the last two seasons. It’s something that I want to be a part of, so I’m really looking forward to getting started.”

For most of last season, David Moyes set Everton up with Dwight McNeil on the right and Iliman Ndiaye on the left.

With McNeil on his way to Palace and Al Hilal expressing interest in Ndiaye, Moyes’ starting wide players on opening day could look completely different.

Jack Grealish impressed across his 22 games played during a loan spell from Manchester City last season, making a strong impact in the first half of the campaign before a foot injury in January ended his season. A possible return remains uncertain.

Moyes still has a few internal options.

Tyler Dibling, who joined Everton for £40m from Southampton last summer, had a transitional season spent largely in the wilderness at Everton, starting only four Premier League games and was overlooked by the arrival of Jack Grealish.

Everton could also start Tyrique George, who joined from Chelsea for £24m after a successful loan spell on Merseyside last season.

George made 11 appearances for Everton, starting once, but impressed manager David Moyes, who called him an "excellent boy with an excellent work-rate" at the end of his initial four-month spell at the club.

Merlin Rohl, who also played a handful of games out-wide, could be an option for Moyes.

Brennan Johnson scored the winning goal for Tottenham in their 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final in May 2025.

And before his move to Spurs, Johnson played in every game in Nottingham Forest's return to the Premier League in 2022–23 as they avoided relegation.

But in January, Johnson moved to Palace in a £35m deal and failed to score in 26 appearance for the Eagles in all competitions, which included 13 starts in the Premier League.

While player trades between clubs are an unusual sight in the transfer window these days, they are not banned - but they do have to meet certain rules.

The swap of Dwight McNeil and Brennan Johnson between Everton and Crystal Palace will technically be treated as two separate transfers, and will be part of the assessment of the Premier League Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) regulations.

For example, Johnson cost Palace £35m, and his valuation as part of the McNeil deal would impact the Eagles SCR calculations. He would need to be valued at around £30m for it to be recorded as a neutral transaction on the accounts.

But what if he is valued less than that?

When McNeil's proposed move to Selhurst Park fell through in February, he was valued at £20m. If this is a true swap deal, and the two players are valued at £20m, that would be a £10m loss for Palace.

All swap deals also still have to pass the Premier League's Fair Market Value checks.
