  2. 'Good display without ball' - Valakaripublished at 16:57 BST 11 October

    FT: Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

St Johnstone head coach Simo Valakari tells BBC Scotland: "There has been a lot of talk about how we want to control games. Mostly that's with the ball, but today that was not possible.

"We still controlled it without the ball. Defended very well in our own box, mostly kept them out the dangerous zones. Yes, a lot of crosses and corners, but that's normal.

"I'm very pleased with our players. We still want to attack, but we can defend as well. It was a very good display.

"I was very pleased with how we started and the action that led to the penalty was very good play by us. Fowler coolly scored the penalty and then we needed to defend."

  3. Dons need better decisions - Robinsonpublished at 16:53 BST 11 October

    FT: Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

Aberdeen head coach Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland: "Disappointed in the result, frustrated with our end product. First half, we moved the ball too slowly, backwards and sideways.

"We rectified that in the second half, got into very good positions but ultimately didn't have the final decision to win, or get back into, the game.

"The pitch is the same for both teams. We dominated possession, had 22 shots. We can't have excuses. The pitch can be better, but that's not the reason for today.

"We need to be finishing teams off, making better decisions. What I see in training is that we have that quality. We've not been able to convert that.

"Possession doesn't win you football matches."

We'll bring you reaction from Aberdeen boss Stephen Robinson and St Johnstone counterpart Simo Valakari shortly.

  5. Difficult for teams like Wellpublished at 16:43 BST 11 October

    FT: Motherwell 0-2 Celtic

    Callum Davidson
Former St Johnstone manager on BBC Sportsound

The young lad who played from New Zealand [Elijah Just], he dictated the play for Motherwell last season.

But it is so difficult to replace your best players when they leave.

When I won the cups with St Johnstone, the next season we had one of them left, so it can be hard.

  6. Well have time to turn it roundpublished at 16:41 BST 11 October

    FT: Motherwell 0-2 Celtic

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

You can have all the possession you want, but you need to get results.

I was surprised to hear Johansson say he didn't decide the style of play.

They obviously wanted to carry on from last season.

To see them in ninth from where they were last season, it is not panic stations, but there is something not quite right there but time to turn it round.

  7. Well need best players to spark into lifepublished at 16:38 BST 11 October

    FT: Motherwell 0-2 Celtic

    Callum Davidson
Former St Johnstone manager on BBC Sportsound

Alfred Johansson just needs to park this game against Celtic.

He needs to get his best players to start playing their best.

It took a while Motherwell to get going last season and he needs to get his best players higher up the pitch.

  9. Pressure off O'Neill?published at 16:27 BST 11 October

    FT: Motherwell 0-2 Celtic

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

I could only imagine the pressure on Martin O'Neill - I know what it's like in Glasgow if you are beaten by Rangers twice.

But it seems like he's got his mojo back and is back to his old form and that's what results do.

All-round, when you look at his team, it must give him a lot of satisfaction.

Celtic's win in Motherwell takes Martin O'Neill's side back to the top of the Premiership, two points above city rivals Rangers.

St Johnstone's win over Aberdeen takes Simo Valakari's team up to fifth, with their hosts down to eighth, ahead of Well on goal difference.

  14. Dons too predictablepublished at 16:07 BST 11 October

    FT: Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

It was depressing. Very little was done when Aberdeen had the ball.

St Johnstone didn't have to think too much about defending.

It got so predictable. The centre-backs playing long balls.

They had three wide players and couldn't punch holes in a St Johnstone side who are not noted for their defence.

    Aberdeen got what they deserved.

  15. Dons' unbeaten run peters outpublished at 16:02 BST 11 October

    FT: Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

Aberdeen's four-game unbeaten run comes to an end, while Saints have won away from home in the league for the first time this season - and their first in five games since beating Linlithgow Rose in the opening game of the season.

The difference was a penalty by Josh Fowler, who has now scored five in the Premiership - the highest scorer in the league at present.

  16. FULL-TIME Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstonepublished at 15:58 BST 11 October

And there it is - time has run out on Aberdeen.

St Johnstone have bravely defended Josh Fowler's 14th-minute penalty and taken the three points.

It is the visitors who move up to fifth in the Premiership.

  17. Mikulic makes long-awaited returnpublished at 90mins

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

As we enter three minutes of stoppage time, St Johnstone's Dan Finlayson goes down with cramp and is replaced.

Bozo Mikulic makes his first appearance after eight months of injury and takes his place at the heart of a defence under increasing pressure.

  18. Postpublished at 15:53 BST 11 October

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

    Brian McLauchlin
    BBC Sport Scotland at Pittodrie

The chant from the visiting fans is "when the saints go marching in" as they watch their team look to secure a victory here in Aberdeen.

  19. Postpublished at 89mins

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

    Another half chance goes begging.

Jack Milne rises at the back post to meet a free-kick, but the centre-back's header flies over from eight yards.

  20. Postpublished at 86mins

    Aberdeen 0-1 St Johnstone

St Johnstone have basically defended since scoring their penalty in the 14th minute.

A dangerous strategy, but it looks increasingly like it will be a successful one against a blunt home attack.
