AC Milan score three first-half goals to seal derby victory over Inter
First-half goals from Christian Pulisic, Adrien Rabiot and Diego Moreira gave AC Milan a derby victory over Inter Milan to knock their arch rivals off the top of the Serie A table.
Inter, alongside Lazio and Roma, started this weekend as the three teams yet to taste defeat in Italy's top flight but conceded twice in the opening 10 minutes.
American Pulisic scored his fourth goal in Milan derbies inside four minutes, heading in after being found unmarked from Moreira's cross.
Rabiot doubled Milan's lead six minutes later when Belgium midfielder Moreira took a short corner towards his unmarked team-mate, who produced an excellent first-time chipped shot that hit the inside of the far post and went in.
Milan legend Kaka was in attendance and gestured that he needed the recipe of how Rabiot scored in such a manner shortly after the cute finish.
But Milan's two-goal advantage was reduced 12 minutes later when Inter centre-back Alessandro Bastoni converted a header following Manuel Akanji's flick-on from a corner.
From there, Inter piled on the pressure. Milan keeper Mike Maignan was forced to thwart former Tottenham full-back Djed Spence from levelling on his full Serie A debut, as well as saving efforts from Hakan Calhanoglu, Andy Diouf and Petar Sucic all before half-time.
And Moreira made Inter pay for those missed opportunities when he added the hosts' third on 43 minutes.
His goal from a direct free-kick capped off a fine individual performance for the former Chelsa wing-back.
Inter could not mount a comeback and had a late penalty award reversed after a video assistant referee review.
Inter, who started the night top of Serie A, dropped to second and below Lazio on goal difference.
Three points for Milan moved them up to fourth and above Como, who are yet to play this weekend.
