Bradford have moved top of the League One table after a long-awaited victory at Luton.
The visitors scored what proved to be the only goal on four minutes when Hayden Matthews' right wing cross was headed home by Bobby Pointon.
It secured City's first win at Kenilworth Road since April 1968.
City looked for a second after 10 minutes as Callum Connolly's 25-yarder was parried by James Shea, before Town tried to hit back, with Kasey Palmer curling wide and then shooting straight at Jon McCracken.
Emilio Lawrence's low attempt was kicked away by McCracken before Bradford's Ibou Touray slicing over at the other end.
Callum Marshall might have done better when threaded through by Liam Walsh, but after the break the Bantams showed just why they have now kept five clean sheets from seven games as they squeezed the life out of the Hatters.
Town did not go close until the 90th minute when Gideon Kodua saw his low drive bounce into McCracken's arms.
In stoppage time, Luton's ex-Bradford loanee Harrison Ashby was sent off for kicking out an opponent before Jordan Clark put Luton's last opportunity wide.
