A goal in each half saw Linfield extend their unbeaten run to 13 games after an entertaining 1-1 draw with Dungannon Swifts at Windsor Park.

Matthew Fitzpatrick fired the Blues in front in the first half before Steven Scott equalised for the visitors midway through the second.

Substitute Kobei Moore squandered a guilt-edge opportunity to double Linfield's lead just before Dungannon's equaliser, which ultimately proved costly.

Ethan McGee was sent off in the final quarter of an hour for two yellow cards in the second half as both sides have to settle for a point.

The hosts hit the front after 16 minutes as Kyle McClean found Rhys Brennan down the left channel before the Bohemians loanee squared the ball across goal for Fitzpatrick to fire home from inside the six yard box.

Dungannon responded well to going behind and had a couple of half chances of their own, with Linfield remaining a huge threat going forward too.

The visitors had Declan Dunne to thank for keeping the score at 1-0 within a minute of the restart with a superb double save to deny both Adam Frizzell and Brennan from doubling the Blues' lead.

After that it was all Dungannon, who kept huffing and puffing but couldn't breach the Linfield defence.

Moore squandered a huge opportunity to double the home side's lead after totally missing the ball from inside the six-yard box when all it needed was a touch from Kirk Millar's low cross.

Moore's miss cost his side almost immediately, as Scott drew the visitors level as he fired into the roof of the net at the back post following a Leo Alves free-kick.

David Healy's side were then reduced to 10 men as McGee was sent for an early shower after two yellow cards in the second half.

Ben Hall came to Linfield rescue late on to deny Tiernan Kelly from getting a shot away after a swift Dungannon counter attack, with both sides sharing the spoils in south Belfast.

What the managers said

Linfield boss David Healy: "I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed with the level of performance. We came into the game in good form, we take the lead and then we find a way to squander a lead which is very disappointing.

"We didn't look as tight knit today. The connectivity wasn't there today in or out of possession. Credit to Rodney [McAree], his staff and his players, I thought they were good today.

"We didn't go and capitalise after taking the lead which is disappointing. Then for periods at the end of the first half and start of the second half we looked a little bit disjointed."

Dungannon Swifts manager Rodney McAree: "We played with a bit of fear in the first half, probably because of the run of results that we've had in the league.

"We haven't done well enough in the league of recent. Our performances have been ok in most of those games, but we haven't got the results.

"Windsor Park is a tough place to come. We gave a bad goal away, it's a poor clearance by Cathal [McGinty] and we concede and put ourselves up against it, but I though defensively we did OK."
