Match Facts

  • This will be Como’s first UEFA Champions League appearance and first European campaign of any form across club history.

  • RB Leipzig’s only two previous UEFA Champions League matches against Italian teams ended in defeat – they lost 3-2 to Juventus and 1-0 to Internazionale in the 2024-25 group stage.

  • Debutants Como will be the 16th different Italian team to appear in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League. Their manager Cesc Fàbregas is one of only 55 players with a century of appearances across the two competitions (104 – 55 for Arsenal, 26 for Barcelona, 23 for Chelsea).

  • RB Leipzig lost seven of their eight group phase games in the UEFA Champions League in 2024-25, while only Viktoria Plzen (19) are currently on a longer ongoing run in the competition without a clean sheet, conceding in each of their last 18 games in the competition.

  • The only other side to face RB Leipzig in their first ever UEFA Champions League game was Istanbul Basaksehir in October 2020, who lost 2-0 to the German side.

  • Of the 51 teams to play 50+ matches in the UEFA Champions League since 1992-93, RB Leipzig’s games have seen the highest goals per game ratio, with 185 scored in 54 games (3.4 per game).

  • RB Leipzig have lost five of their last six away UEFA Champions League matches (D1), including their last four in a row, their worst ever away losing run in the competition. Their last win was in November 2023, away at Serbian side Crvena Zvezda.

  • Como's Moise Kean has only started six UEFA Champions League matches, but he has registered five goals and one assist in those six games, either scoring or assisting in five of them.

  • Como manager Cesc Fàbregas played 104 UEFA Champions League matches between 2005 and 2018 for Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea. He's the third youngest player to start a Champions League final, aged 19 years and 13 days for Arsenal against Barcelona in 2006.

  • RB Leipzig head coach Martín Demichelis made 67 appearances in the UEFA Champions League as a player for Bayern Munich (43), Manchester City (15) and Málaga (9). He was in the opposition starting XI to Como’s Cesc Fàbregas once in the competition, starting for Man City in a 2-0 home defeat to Barcelona in February 2014.
