Linfield joined Coleraine at the top of the table with a resounding 3-1 win at the Showgrounds.

Adam Frizzell fired the visitors in front after just nine minutes before captain Chris Shields doubled their advantage midway through the opening half.

Kobei Moore's first goal for the club gave them a 3-0 advantage just before the hour mark, moments after Matthew Shevlin's goal for the hosts was disallowed by referee Evan Boyce.

Shevlin did score his fifth of the season 14 minutes from full-time but it wasn't enough to prevent the hosts slumping to a first defeat in 15 games, while David Healy's men made it back-to-back wins.

Linfield started on the front foot and opened the scoring through Frizzell after just nine minutes.

Quick-thinking from Kyle McClean, from a free-kick, released the diminutive Scot who raced through a static Coleraine defence to blast his effort high past Lewis Webb in the home goal from 18 yards.

It could, and should, have been 2-0 moments later and, again, Frizzell was involved.

This time he whipped a cross in from the left towards unmarked striker Moore who headed it straight into the hands of the keeper from six yards.

The Blues continued to dominate and they doubled their lead midway through the opening half.

An Ethan McGee long throw was headed clear by a Coleraine defender only as far as Linfield captain Shields, who simply volleyed the ball into the roof of the net from 25 yards past a helpless Webb.

Coleraine, the league's highest scorers, failed to muster a shot on target in a frustrating 45 minutes for the hosts.

Head coach Ruaidhri Higgins range the changes at half-time and it seemed as if the move had worked when Shevlin headed home Ben Doherty's corner 10 minutes after the restart.

Referee Evan Boyce disallowed the goal, awarding a free-kick which goalkeeper Chris Johns took quickly.

The ball was then transferred to Moore who held his nerve to round his marker before planting a low shot into the corner of the net for his first goal in Linfield colours.

The hosts pulled a goal back with just under 15 minutes remaining through top scorer Matthew Shevlin.

The striker controlled a pass forward from Levi Ives before slipping the ball past Chris Johns from six yards for his fifth goal of the season.

The Bannsiders huffed and puffed in the closing stages but could find no way through a dogged Linfield defence as they suffered a first home defeat in 10 months.

Linfield manager David Healy: "I thought we were good tonight, I thought we were so good without the ball in the first half.

"We talked to the players about not taking a backward step. If we were going to lose the game tonight, we were going to go down on our sword.

"We won't be getting carried away but we'll enjoy beating a really good side, one that people are saying is potentially the most exciting they've ever seen in the Irish League.

"So, if we can be a little bit boring at times and come and spoil people's parties, good, but I think we proved tonight that we're not a bad team and I'm delighted for the players."

Coleraine manager Ruaidhri Higgins: "Extremely disappointing, I'm frustrated and disappointed and angry at the manner of the goals we conceded.

"The big moment in the game, and this isn't excusing our performance, is a horrendous call. We scored a perfectly good goal, it's been chalked off, Chris Johns hits a rolling ball from the resulting free-kick and they go down the field and score.

"Rather than going to 2-1 within 30 seconds it's 3-0 and it's an uphill battle from then but performance wise from us it wasn't good enough.

"We have to take it on the chin and accept we were second best tonight and come back rejuvenated and ready to go again."
