    Ballymena United produced the story of the day as they shocked Linfield by winning 3-0 at Windsor Park.

    Coleraine got their campaign off to a winning start with a 3-1 victory over Dungannon Swifts while Glentoran beat Limavady United at the Oval.

    Carrick Rangers also picked up an opening day win as they beat 10-man Portadown 1-0.

    Dungannon Swifts 1-3 Coleraine

    Many people's title favourites Coleraine get their season up and running with an opening day win at Dungannon Swifts.

    Former Ross County man Jay Henderson fired the visitors in front with his first goal for the club in first half stoppage time before the returning Ben Doherty doubled their advantage 10 minutes after half-time with a fine individual effort.

    Sean McAllister pulled a goal back for the home side with a well struck shot with 20 minutes remaining but Matthew Shevlin made the points safe for Ruaidhri Higgins' with a close range finish in the closing stages.

    A Chris McKee double and Success Edogun strike secures a comfortable three points for the Sky Blues on their travels to south Belfast.
