Elche have already played a La Liga game, drawing 1-1 at Deportivo on Monday in their first game under new boss Martin Anselmi.

They are unbeaten in their last seven home games in La Liga, since losing 3-1 to Barca in January.

There won't be a Barcelona debut for Rodri today with the Spain midfielder due to up with his new team-mates properly on Monday following his transfer from Manchester City.

Last season Barcelona had an England winger in their team in Marcus Rashford, and this time they have another one in Anthony Gordon.

After Rashford went back to Manchester United after a loan move, Barca paid £69m to Newcastle for Gordon.

When he was unveiled before the World Cup, Gordon spoke in Spanish and said: "I was excited to play for Barca since I was three years of age.

"I wanted to speak Spanish because, as a kid, I believed I would play football for Barca. I have a physio in Newcastle, and we spoke every day, and I told him, 'one day I'll play for Barca, so I want to learn Spanish'.

"As soon as I knew Barca were a serious option, there wasn't any question. Barca are the biggest club on the planet. It is stuff I dreamed [about] as a child."

Will he come on for a debut tonight?

Anthony Gordon starts his Barcelona career on the bench - although there is a debut for Germany forward Karim Adeyemi after his move from Borussia Dortmund.

Rodri is not involved yet.

Teams with a load of World Cup players were allowed to start their La Liga campaign a week later, including Real Madrid - who beat Espanyol yesterday.

But it means Barca now have to play their opening three games in the space of eight days.
