Ex-Barry footballer banned for anti-doping violation

Former Barry Town United midfielder Evan Press has been handed a three-year ban for an anti-doping violation.
Press was convicted in the criminal courts of being involved in the supply of cocaine in March 2025 and sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
He was then charged with a sporting sanction as he was a registered footballer with the Football Association of Wales (FAW) at the time of his arrest.
Press' ban includes all World Anti-Doping Code-compliant sport and runs until September 2028.
Press, who was vice-captain at Cymru Premier side Barry, admitted the violation and said it was during a period of personal and financial difficulty.
In a response to a notice sent by UK Anti-Doping, the 26-year-old said he took full responsibility for his actions.
Press added that his prison sentence had a significant impact on his mental health, but has worked to rehabilitate himself and understands the harm trafficking prohibited substances causes to sport.
