Seven goals shipped in 70 minutes - is it a cause for concern?

Three games into the season and three points on the board. Ipswich Town at least have a start and a platform to build on, however, a couple of Premier League heavyweights have done their best to dent what was a very encouraging beginning just a couple of weeks ago.

With just 10 minutes on the clock at Portman Road last Friday, I would have probably taken a 2-0 defeat for the Blues against Liverpool, but I never thought it possible.

The fact that Gary O'Neil's side saw out the rest of the match without conceding, against a side who were looking so rampant early on, was a big positive in my eyes. I'm not sure that would have been the case two seasons ago.

All that being said, there has been roughly a 70-minute period - from Old Trafford and Portman Road last week combined - whereby Ipswich Town have conceded seven goals. Granted, there were some unfortunate and controversial moments in there, but it is still a concern.

Naturally, goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen was criticised off the back of Liverpool's opener, having committed the cardinal sin of being beaten at his near post. However, it was some strike from a rejuvenated Alexander Isak.

The scoreline would have been greater but for a couple of impressive saves from the Dutchman to deny Dominik Szoboszlai, so now is surely not the time to be thinking about making a switch between the posts.

O'Neil says there won't be a loss of confidence regardless of what results are at the weekend, and the games will be separated, with each one posing it's own different challenge.

The questions asked by Crystal Palace on Saturday will be different again. Hopefully it will be a good time to face the Eagles, who are still getting to grips with life after Oliver Glasner.
