Bumper crowd see Penybont victory & Flint finally win

Penybont came from behind to beat Airbus UK Broughton in front of a crowd of 2,666 to keep their unbeaten start going.

The bumper crowd of over 2,500 is the biggest attendance at a Cymru Premier game for 22 years, and the fourth highest in league history.

They were treated to an entertaining game as Ryan Hill and Ethan Cann struck in the second half after Liam Shephard turned into his own goal to give Airbus the lead.

Penybont, who are without defeat across eleven league games, remain second in the division, while the visitors are 10th.

The New Saints also remain undefeated and claimed their 10th victory on the spin as they beat struggling Trefelin BGC.

Rhys Hughes netted after just seven minutes before Rory Holden doubled the lead soon after for the reigning champions.

Jasper Jones pulled one back for Trefelin, who remain winless, but TNS made sure of the points through Jack Bodenham in the second half.

TNS remain top, four points clear of Penybont, while Trefelin are down in 14th following promotion from the Cymru South last season.

Danny Holmes got off to a winning start as Flint Town United manager as his side won for the first time this season, beating Ammanford 3-0.

Tunde Owolabi scored twice in the second half, before Lassana Mendes ensured Flint made the dream start under their new boss.

The hosts move up to 13th in the league, while the visitors drop to 15th and are yet to win this season.

In what appeared to be a meeting of two sides vying near the top, the gulf could not have been bigger as Connah's Quay Nomads blew Barry Town away in a 4-1 win.

Braces from Harry Franklin and Jordan Hodkin sealed an emphatic win for the Nomads, whose afternoon was only blotted when James Lester scored to eradicate their clean sheet.

Connah's Quays third win on the bounce moves them up to third in the table, while Barry drop to sixth.

Cambrian United responded to their 9-1 drumming by Caernarfon Town last time out by beating fellow promoted side Llandudno 4-3.

It was not smooth sailing for Cambrian, though, as they had to survive a late scare, having been four goals ahead just after the break.

Liam Eason scored his eighth goal of the season to open the scoring just nine minutes in, before Alex Bonthron scored a 47-minute hat-trick.

But Llandudno staged a second-half fightback as Kieran Lloyd, Callum Stephens and Marc Williams pulled goals back to make it a nervy 10 minutes for the visitors.

But Cambrian held on as they leap-frogged the visitors into 7th.

Caernarfon Town rescued a point at Cardiff Met thanks to a 98th-minute equaliser from leading scorer Zack Clarke.

Jasper Payne opened the scoring for Met early on before Jack Veale calmly slotted home his penalty to double their lead.

Osian Evans ' 87th-minute goal gave Caernarfon hope, and in the final minute Clarke was on hand to preserve Caernarfon's five-match unbeaten run.

Colwyn Bay also struck late to make it four consecutive league wins by beating Haverfordwest County 1-0 on home soil.

Dan Roberts' 93rd-minute strike was enough for the home side to take all three points and put a stop to County's four-game unbeaten run.

Holywell remain rooted to the foot of the Cymru Premier as Luke Bowen's second-half strike cancelled out Florian Yansel's early opener.

Holywell were on course for victory and had a man advantage, too, after Alex Gammond was shown red, but the visitors fought back through Bowen just past the hour mark.

Holywell are still yet to win this season, while Briton Ferry have now gone seven matches without a win themselves and are 12th in the table.
