Sutton's predictions v Royal Blood drummer Ben Thatcher

Defending champions Arsenal made an impressive start to the season against newly promoted Coventry but face a tougher test against Aston Villa on Monday.

But with the number of outgoings at Villa Park, will it be another eye-opener for Unai Emery's men after last week's heavy defeat by Brighton?

BBC Sport football expert Chris Sutton thinks so.

"There's only one winner with this," he said.

"Aston Villa had a slow start last season, they have lost big players and I just think Arsenal are going to run all over teams this season.

"I think they are going to get better and better which is ominous for everybody else."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, BBC Sport readers and a variety of guests.

For week two, he takes on drummer Ben Thatcher from rock band Royal Blood.

Royal Blood's latest single, Ten Over Ten, is out now. It is taken from their fifth studio album, Dead Company, which is released in November.

Ben is a lifelong Brighton fan who is feeling optimistic about the new season despite seeing more star players like striker Danny Welbeck and defender Jan Paul van Hecke leave the club this summer.

"We loved Danny, because he really fitted into our style of play and he had such a great season last year," Ben told BBC Sport.

"We will miss Van Hecke at the back too, but the thing with Brighton is that we always bounce back. We always come through with the players we bring in that I've never heard of, but they get given this chance.

"I just trust in [Brighton owner] Tony Bloom. He knows better than anyone about these things, because he has done it so many times before.

"He has sold so many world-class players to other clubs and we have nurtured so many great players to replace them.

"So, I don't feel there is any need to worry right now. Just put the trust in the club and see how we get on.

"It's great to be back in Europe [in the Europa Conference League] but with us potentially playing so many more games, I don't expect us to get there again through our league position this time.

"But my hope is that we won't drop into the bottom half of the table. My thinking is that, as long as we finish in the top 10 again and have a good go at Europe, then that's a great season."

Crystal Palace had a poor start away to Everton and it looks like there's a bit of interest from Liverpool in Ismaila Sarr.

The one thing they can't do before the end of the window is lose all the best players. But I do think they've got a goal in them.

I thought Man City deserved to win. They were a little bit clunky with Mark Guehi playing in midfield - a penny for the thoughts of Mateo Kovacic - but now they've got the youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi, although he'll need a bit of time to adapt.

I don't think this will be a cruise for City, I think they'll be pushed, but I think they'll get over the line. Erling Haaland didn't score last weekend so I expect him to get up to the mark.

Ben's prediction: Palace lost 3-0 to City home and away last season, but I reckon they will nab a goal this time. We are still waiting to see what City are like without Pep Guardiola which makes this harder to call. 1-3

I covered Nottingham Forest against Leeds last weekend and in fairness that was a really tight game. Oliver Glasner's gone into Forest with a big reputation but they went through four managers last year and the owner is notoriously impatient if things don't go well.

They didn't go big in the transfer window but they have got Liam Delap and he'll be hoping to get his career back on track. He had a disappointing season at Chelsea - which I know all about - but I do think there's a player in there and hopefully he'll he'll suit Forest.

It will be interesting to see who plays as that central striker. With the money they've spent on Delap then Chris Wood may not play a major role.

I thought Liverpool deserved a point at least at Newcastle and they got a fair bit of criticism but I can't see past the Liverpool win and I think Alexander Isak will get off the mark.

Last season he shot himself in the foot - forcing the move and then he had injury issues and it didn't quite happen for him. We know there's a player in there and for his sake and Liverpool's sake the sooner he comes to the fore the better.

Ben's prediction: This is a home win for Liverpool. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

Bournemouth were resolute against Manchester City last week and they took the lead. The way in which they lost with the two late goals would have felt a real gut-wrencher for them.

Everton are off to a bit of a flyer under David Moyes - beating Palace and then Preston North End in the EFL Cup.

It will be interesting to see how Thierno Barry gets on because got a hat-trick against Preston in the Cup in midweek and I thought he was a bit of a nuisance last year to play against. He's still raw but I think he's got something.

I fancy Everton more than Bournemouth but I'm going to go for the draw.

I thought Andros Townsend was a bit harsh on Coventry on the Monday Night Club talking about the way they were beaten by Arsenal. I think Arsenal have the best team, the best squad and I don't think we can really judge Coventry on that.

Dean Holden - Hull's assistant manager - has talked about the way that Hull were going to play and then they go and back it up and beat Manchester United in the way that they did.

I think seven or eight of the team were playing in the Championship last season so this is a big game because you can imagine Coventry fans thinking this is a great chance at home to get three points after a tough start.

But Hull will go into this thinking if they can go back-to-back then what a start that is because they've been written off by idiots like myself. But I am going to edge Coventry at home.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Ben's prediction: This has worked out in my favour, having two promoted teams playing each other. It's going to be a cagey game because they will both want to get over each other, but I can see Coventry coming out on top. 1-0

AI's prediction: 2-1

We all thought this was going to be Tottenham's season but their defeat by Brentford was one of the extreme results at the weekend.

Roberto de Zerbi's said after the game that the players weren't fit enough, lost all the duels, weren't physical enough then used excuses about the pre-season and players coming in after the World Cup.

It looks like Newcastle are going to be the counter-attack kings this season. They've brought Nico Gonzalez in but whether he'll start I'm not sure but they have got pace as well.

Anthony Elanga scored last week having not scored at all in the Premier League last season but I have to say I haven't got a clue what this will be. I'm going to go for a Spurs win but I couldn't tell you why.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Ben's prediction: Spurs had a terrible season last time but they have had so many good players come in, while Newcastle have kind of done the opposite. Still, I am basing my prediction on Spurs boss Roberto de Zerbi because I watched him so many times at Brighton - and I am going for a draw. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-2

Brighton are off to a flying start and it was a great opening result and performance by Xabi Alonso's Chelsea, winning the west London derby against Fulham.

Chelsea have got some talented players and, because they've got no European football, they're going to have a good crack in the Premier League this season.

What interested me against Fulham is Chelsea didn't have a lot of possession, but they were effective when they did have possession.

But Brighton are just one of those teams. I don't think I predicted a single Brighton result right last season they're just impossible to call.

I really like Jack Hinshelwood he's such an exciting young player and there's a good history with his family in football and connection to Brighton.

But I'm going to say Chelsea carry on this run and get the three points.

Ben's prediction: I have to go with my team. It is going to be close - well, actually I don't know if it will be close... but I have just got to go with it. 1-2

Ben on which Brighton players will shine this season: We have managed to hang on to Bart Verbruggen, which was massive, and we have still got Georginio Rutter, who scored an amazing goal in pre-season against Roma, and then there is also Yasin Ayari.

But I've heard some amazing things about our Greek players Charalampos Kostoulas and Stefanos Tzimas, who we did not see much of last season. They will be like new signings for us.

AI's prediction: 2-1

Leeds and Daniel Farke proved loads of people wrong last season. But they were pretty cagey against Nottingham Forest last week in the Premier League.

They weren't very creative but then they got the job done against them in the EFL Cup in midweek and because of that I can't see Leeds losing.

Brentford are off to an absolute flyer - smashing Tottenham then hitting Birmingham for six or seven. They've started well with all the talk about their new midfielder Mamadou Sangare who now looks a bargain.

I think this is going to be really tight because Brentford like to play on the counter-attack.

Sutton's prediction: 1-1

Ben's prediction: This will definitely be close. 0-1

AI's prediction: 2-2

Sunderland need to get points on the board because they had a superb transfer window last summer but they've barely brought anybody in this year and their squad is going to be stretched because of Europe.

I got Sunderland really badly wrong last season but there's a lot of talk that they could be in trouble this year with so many games.

I still think they're good enough to stay up - they've got Granit Xhaka and some other good players. I like that they are physical and aggressive.

They made careless mistakes losing to Ipswich last week, giving the goals away, but I'm going to back Sunderland at home.

I think Fulham are going to be in a bit of bother this season, albeit they had some good spells against Chelsea last time out.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Ben's prediction:Sunderland's home crowd will lift them again - look how strong they were at the Stadium of Light last season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 1-1

Well done to Ipswich for their start. It took them 11 games to get the first win under Kieran McKenna the last time they were in the Premier League and they've got off to a great start already.

Under Gary O'Neil they have got a bit about them - they've got players who can get them up the pitch, they have got pace with Daizen Maeda and Emersonn looks a bit of a handful.

I think they could cause United one or two problems but it's unthinkable that Manchester United could lose their opening two games of the season. Their start was an absolute stinker - they were very flat against Hull.

With respect, it was an open goal start for the season for them, with Hull then Ipswich - two promoted sides - and it would be bordering on catastrophic for Michael Carrick if they lose again.

I remember the days when United used to beat Ipswich 9-0 but I don't think it will be nine and I think Ipswich will score. I think Ipswich will score first but United will come from behind to win - panic over, Carrick's the king again.

Ben's prediction: As much as I'd like to say Ipswich will win this, they won't. 2-0

There's only one winner with this.

I'm a massive fan of Unai Emery but the Ollie Watkins thing sickens you a bit, he was really let down by his striker last week.

Aston Villa had a slow start last season, they have lost big players and I just think Arsenal are going to run all over teams this season.

Physically the will be too strong and they played some good stuff against Coventry. I think they are going to get better and better which is ominous for everybody else.

I wouldn't totally rule Emery and Villa out of it because you just don't know. They're very principled in the way they play, probably the most principled team in the Premier League in the way that they build from the back.

But I think Arsenal will swarm all over them.
