  1. 'We've played very well today'published at 16:41 GMT

Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis at the presentation: "I think we batted really well in the middle overs and powerplay. Unfortunately we made a little mistakes, that's why we can't chase the score. I'm happy with our batting, we've played very well today.

"I'm very to score runs today. When I come to the final I have to bat a little more than today."

  2. 'Important to win tonight'published at 16:40 GMT

England batter Ben Duckett: "Obviously, that pitch was getting good again with the conditions.

"We've come out on the wrong side. So, very important to win tonight. And, I think we played some really good cricket over the course of the few games and just fell on the wrong side of the result.

"So, there is positives to take. It's just about getting over the line and winning games of cricket, certainly when we're in front."

On Pavan Rathnayake: "He's an incredible player. He's had a couple of great knocks against us and obviously looking like he was going to get it done again. It was just really important for us to keep trying to take wickets today and we kind of saw at the end there with the tail that that it will crumble. So, credit to the bowlers for getting the job done and certainly Liam Dawson and his bowling is incredible."

On his form in Pakistan: "Finish the summer fairly quiet, so I've toured Pakistan quite a few times and know the conditions well. I know how good the pitch can be to bat on. So really happy that I've put a couple of performances on the board.

"We're going to completely different conditions where the lengths we bowl in and the areas we hit the ball are going to be extremely different going to Perth, especially.

"I think there are so many different learnings. We scored 430 in one game, won 90% of the game against Pakistan the other day and obviously to get over the line here.

"I think we've put some really good performances on. We just haven't quite got over the line. So, we've got guys in form, guys bowling well, so I guess for us that's what we got to take into Australia and we're just really happy we won today."

If England want to play Liam Dawson, can they find a way of getting Adil Rashid in?

It is a conversation they're going to have and it will cause some headaches.

Today, the partnership from Ben Duckett and Tom Banton was the best we have seen of those two together. They negotiated the first 10 overs, but with intent. After that, the partnership comes into its own.

On where Harry Brook's captaincy is at...

I think it is hard to know. I think he is brilliant. I like his aggressiveness.

A few moments throughout this tour, I have not agreed with his bowling changes, but saying that he has not got the bowling changes that he would want or normally has.

I don't think you can blame England's performances on his captaincy.

In my view, we have been on the wrong side of results. England have actually played well this series without our premier quick (Archer) and spin (Rashid) bowlers. Add Buttler, Salt, etc back into the batting line-up and we are in rude health.

Phew a win at last! But nothing on it. England need to learn how to win meaningful matches with something on it!

Granted the results haven’t been great. But three of these England games have been thrilling! It’s kinda like supporting Newcastle in the 90s! You’re not gonna win anything, but what a ride!

    On England's bowling attack...

I don't think Harry Brook is quite sure.

I think he is still trying to work out what bowling formula sort of works.

Sam Curran has bowled a lot, certainly in the first couple of games. He has leant on him a lot. The Henry Crocombe thing today - I am not sure what that is all about.

One minute he is bowling a vital over the other day, and then he just bowls three overs here.

Like anything, Brook is learning captaincy. He is learning generally about bowling changes and the team that he wants around him.

He has got time, and he has got a year until the World Cup.

I just think if your top six batters do their job, as they did today, and with the guys who can bowl and bat, I think then playing the extra bowler can give you more firepower through the middle of the innings and then safety at the death.

The batsmen score runs, the bowlers have an off day.

It hasn't all gelled together, so there is work to be done. Definitely as far as the make-up of the team.

Adil Rashid's situation is an interesting one. Michael Vaughan has messaged asking why he isn't in the team?

England found themselves on the wrong ends of results, so they can hold their heads high.

Three losses on the bounce would have been one too many.

There would have been moments in the match when England were worried.

At the halfway stage England would have been content with where they were at.

There were some worrying signs through the middle that England couldn't take a wicket.

The bowling looked the same at times, but they hung in there and broke into those partnerships.

That run out that wasn't from Pavan Rathnayake didn't end up being match costly.

England can breathe a sigh of relief.

England will be disappointed how this tournament has gone and gutted by the way it has gone.

Ultimately, they have got away with a win, and have a little bit of confidence leading into Australia.

England finish the series with a token win.

To have come here and lost every game would have been a shambles.

Two wickets in two balls - Sam Curran wraps it up!

Eshan Malinga takes a big swing at the seamer's opening delivery and has his leg stump pegged back.

Having looked in trouble a few overs ago, they've taken 5-16 from 17 balls to ultimately win by a comfortable margin.

Brilliant catch from Tom Banton. Banton, running in shouts 'mine'.

It is an easier catch for him to take. Liam Dawson missed out on that first game, but he has come back and taken wicket after wicket.

    Fernando c Banton b Dawson 1 (SL 331-9)

A second wicket in the over for Liam Dawson and his first four-wicket haul in ODI cricket!

New batter Asitha Fernando tries to slam the England spinner down the ground and Tom Banton runs behind the wicket from long-on, sliding over the on-field advertising to take the catch.

Dawson finishes with figures of 4-49 and England are one wicket away from a consolation win in this tri-series.

    Rathnayake c Baker b Dawson 118 (SL 329-8)

Four and out - a huge wicket for Liam Dawson!

The England spinner removes centurion Pavan Rathnayake, who had swept the opening ball of the over past both Sam Curran and Will Jacks for a boundary at backward square.

Rathnayake pulls out the sweep to the following delivery and top-edges a catch to Sonny Baker at short fine leg.

Lucky it wasn't Jordan Cox who needed to take the catch, as he had no idea where the ball had gone.

    England firmly in control now.

  20. SL 325-7published at 44 overs

    Need 62 from 36 balls

Well, Pavan Rathnayake is on strike now anyway, and he sends the next ball for four through backward point.

Just one further single off the rest of the over though, with new batter Eshan Malinga facing two balls.

The required run-rate leaps above 10 an over.
