  1. Ind 168-3published at 30 overs

    Kohli 65 (62), Shreyas 33 (33)

One for lovers of planes... a beluga has just flown over Sophia Gardens.

On the field, Virat Kohli picks up his eighth boundary of the afternoon, hitting Gus Atkinson through mid-on. He tries to punish a couple of short balls but has to settle for a two and a single, picking out Ben Duckett on both occasions.

Shreyas Iyer chips a top edge into the air but it lands safely behind square.

There's a tennis ball like bounce out there. The pitch really hasn't changed that much.

A great effort from Ben Duckett. He put in the dive but needed to be another four or five inches bigger really.

  6. Ind 155-3published at 28 overs

Virat Kohli adds another to his tally, running a single to bring up India's 150.

Gus Atkinson surprises Shreyas Iyer with a bit of extra bounce during a run of three dot balls before Shreyas flicks high into the leg-side and beats a diving Ben Duckett in the deep, with the ball deflected into the rope.

Obviously as an England supporter I'd like to see Kohli get out but a bit of me wants to savour every minute of watching such a class act bat before the inevitable retirement.

This has been a good partnership. India were doing alright until they lost those wickets. They were in a bit of a hole but these two have looked comfortable and they are going at almost a run a ball.

This middle phase is tricky but, a few wickets fall and all of a sudden you find yourself in trouble. We saw that with England the other day.

  9. Ind 149-3published at 27 overs

Lovely effort from Jacob Bethell in the field, diving to his left to deny Shreyas Iyer a boundary through mid-off. He's quickly to his feet and fizzes the ball into the stumps on the turn. Shreyas was comfortably home but it was enjoyable to watch from Bethell.

Nine runs from Sam Curran's latest over. He had 1-4 from four, now his figures are 1-23 from six. Hmm.

What a lovely way to bring up the half century. Virat Kohli's 132nd score of 50 more more in ODI cricket.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Virat Kohlipublished at 26.1 overs

Virat Kohli dispatches Sam Curran down the ground for four to bring up his half-century off 50 balls.

He waves his bat around Sophia Gardens in rather low-key fashion. Half-centuries have been ten a penny for the India great, I suppose.

Virat Kohli isn't too used to the keeper being up to the stumps when facing pace in one-day internationals - since the start of the last World Cup he's faced a total of 993 deliveries off pace bowling, with the keeper up to the stumps to just 15 of those.

A couple of quick ones for England and they are right on top. India could get past 300 here if they don't.

  15. Ind 140-3published at 26 overs

Oh Mike, I'm blushing. Hello everyone.

Virat Kohli takes a single to move onto 49 before Shreyas Iyer gets funky to Will Jacks, scooping over the wicketkeeper for two.

Jacks' penultimate delivery is filthily short and crashed square for four.

  16. Ind 133-3published at 25 overs

Having conceded four runs off his first four overs, Sam Curran's fifth goes for 10.

Shreyas Iyer turns him fine for four, then adds two at third.

Right, plenty of disappointing substitutions in the last 24 hours but this isn't one of them - here's Elizabeth Botcherby.

I like the way Harry Brook rotates his attack though, he doesn't let it stagnate. He likes to let everyone have a go.

  18. Ind 123-3published at 24 overs

Will Jacks is back after one over of Adil Rashid, and he goes for a trio of singles.

India have scored 20 runs off the last eight overs, losing two wickets.

England's pacers have been significantly more economical going into the pitch today as opposed to pitching it up.

    • Fuller than 6 metres - 39 off 29 - 8.66 economy
    • Shorter than 6 metres - 37 off 66 - 3.36 economy

England have bowled a better line. They were a little bit licorice all sorts before, a little bit wayward.
