  3. 'We fought hard and communicated well'published at 19:56 BST

England captain Harry Brook on Sky Sports: "Extremely proud. We fought hard. Communicated well. Managed to get a series win against world number one.

"We wanted to set a template and the way ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell began was phenomenal. Then Joe Root did what he does. It was all awesome to watch. A very good batting performance."

  4. 'Great to see the guys learning and developing 'published at 19:55 BST

Jos Buttler speaking to Sky Sports: "I think when you've got an opponent to beat the number one team in world and to bounce back from the first game in the manner we have is the most rewarding thing. For us to build off the back of Sri Lanka shows that progression and that we're going in the right direction. Lots of good times, nice to contribute but it's great to see the guys learning, developing and as a team, gradually getting better."

"I thought the tempo they played with on that surface was great, a lot of risk free cricket for a long time, we knew we could explode towards the end with that platform. Great to be in that position."

"You've always got to keep looking at how you can get better. First game, we haven't got it right but adapted to it on two sets of different conditions. If we can we do it again and keep that trend, everyone will keep on getting better and growing in confidence."

More from England captain Harry Brook speaking to Test Match Special on communicating with Brendon McCullum: "They've got a different view from up there. I can't see that from mid off or extra cover. He's up there and got the analyst up there to tell him what's working and what's not. To get that communication has been important."

  6. 'It shows how much belief and comradery we have'published at 19:48 BST

England captain Harry Brook speaking to Test Match Special: "It was an unbelievable game. I just love the way we went about with the bat, the way Jacob Bethell and Ben Duckett set the platform was great. Beth didn't hit three figures but he was outstanding. Duckie didn't even take a risk. The way Rootie and Jos [Buttler] finished the innings was unbelievable. They used all their experience to put up a score we could defend."

"Everybody knows how powerful Jos [Buttler] is and how feared as well. He's been a phenomenal T20 and ODI cricketer for years. It will be nice to have that innings under his belt."

"The way they bowled, we stuck at it. They had a hell of a batting performance. I was stumped at a few points. We stuck at it and believed the whole way."

On Jacob Bethell's overs: "I went off for an over I spoke to Baz [McCullum], that was a crucial part of the game."

On Virat Kohli: "Phenomenal player for so many years, as soon as we got him, it was a relief."

"India were number one ranked in T20, we beat them four nil. ODIs they were top. To beat the number one side twice in two weeks shows how much belief and comradery we have an the communication between coaches and players."

What's surprising is that Jasprit Bumrah has got this niggle in his knee. He was a massive lost for this game, it would've been a different story if he was there. India missed him.

  8. 'Rohit was a treat to watch'published at 19:41 BST

India captain Shubman Gill: "We were right in the game up until the 45th over. We gave a bit too much runs in the last three overs - around 60 runs. That's where the game went too far ahead from us.

"We thought if we had wickets in hand after 40 overs, we would be in the game. After powerplay, we tried to get the required run rate down.

"Almost everyone got runs in the matches here and took wickets. Many positives for us in the series."

On Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli: "They have done really well over the years in different parts of the world. Very pleased with how Rohit batted today. It wasn't easy on this wicket and the way he batted was a treat to watch."

  9. 'I still have a lot to learn'published at 19:38 BST

England's Jacob Bethell who was named player of the match: "These games are exciting. Going into this game wanting to win it, it's great to put my hands up in that situation.

"I am enjoying [opening the batting]. I still have a lot to learn. I like playing with Ben Duckett. We saw what we can do today.

"Adil Rashid is the best leg-spinner in the world. But wicket was more conducive to when there is a bit more pace behind the ball. That is my style of bowling and it worked quite well."

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

England thumped India in the T20, credit where credit is due to England.

If they lost both, the pressure on the England camp would've been immense. We all know that there's talent in this side. What we've watched here, India looked really tired but you can only beat what's in front of you.

It gives me encouragement that fundamentally, England have got some fantastic cricketers. If they can get this bit off the field right, I genuinely think this England side can go and do some good things.

I liked the way England have played. They've played intelligent cricket.

I'm pleased for McCullum, he's lost a part of his job. Have England turned a corner? The length of the tail worries me a bit. To lose the first game of a three match series and to come back and win it shows character.

It was a good run chase, India were in it for a very long time.

It was good to see Rohit Sharma after whatever has been happening in the past couple of games. This innings tells you that he's still got it, performance is key.

Upon reflection though, it hasn't been a great past month for India. Questions will be asked if you only win one game in the last ten. It's only fair.

Well played England. There was a little bit of a wobble with the ball but that was because of some superb Indian batting.

It was the perfect batting knock from England though.

The game has finished in an anticlimax really.

But, England have won the series, beating the number one ranked team in the world.

It was a sun drenched day and a run drenched day in the end.
