    The last time Joe Root faced as many consecutive dot balls in an ODI as today was against Australia at Old Trafford in 2020, facing 17 dot balls in a row against Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.

    Jason Roy was also run out with Root attempting to take a quick single during that 17-ball spell.

    Tom Banton weathered those early conditions.

    What I have liked, is when it is not quite there you don't want to play those big expansive shots.

    He has been very measured. Banton slaps it and that generates pace. It is up and flying into the crowd.
