Durham have named all-rounder Kasey Aldridge as their new captain for the One-Day Cup campaign.

Aldridge, who is in his first full season with Durham after joining from Somerset, will step up with red-ball and T20 captain Alex Lees free to concentrate solely on playing.

The 25-year-old's first match in charge will be on Tuesday away to Derbyshire Falcons when his side will include Ben Stokes in his first match since stepping down as England's Test captain.

"Kasey came for his first season in first-class cricket with Durham and in one pre-season he was unanimously voted into that leadership group," head coach Ryan Campbell told the club's website, external.

"That takes some doing. It just shows that he has immediately shown qualities that our players just thought 'wow'."
