The cut didn't open, and that's what we are talking about when we are saying did [Wardley] need more time for the cut to heal?

What I liked is that he did admit that it was his fault and that he didn't stick to the gameplan. What he didn't address was whether he was upset or not with the stoppage. Because if he was upset, when he watches it back, he will not be.

  3. 'AJ will win if he does simple things well'published at 23:43 BST 17 October

    Dubois v Wardley 2

    Richard Riakporhe
British heavyweight champion on BBC Sport's watchalong

I was talking to Anthony Joshua last week and he asked me for my thoughts. I said his style is perfect for Fury.

Boxing mileage is a real thing, you can be 25 and had wars and be young in age. Not able to deliver anything. I believe Joshua, it's simple boxing for him, he needs to do his jab and be aggressive, he's got that physicality, strength. Anthony Joshua needs to do the simple things perfectly and he will win.

  4. 'That's exactly what is going to happen to AJ'published at 23:42 BST 17 October

Tyson Fury on his Instagram story: "That was a very exciting heavyweight fight there between Dubois and Wardley, fair play to both guys.

"Well done to Daniel for retaining his belt with a good knockout, that's how you get them out, big Dan!

"That's exactly what is going to happen to AJ on the 11th of December."

I was there, I don’t know if it was the knockdown but it felt like Wardley hardly threw a punch. It could have been stopped in the first, I’ve never seen a towel go in so early. It was a destruction.

    Richie Woodhall
Former boxing world champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

We did say that it could be a classic case of don't blink, and it's who lands that big shot and it was Daniel Dubois. And you know what? I don't think [Wardley] recovered from that first punch.

Dubois looks a beast. He's put on a load of muscle and kept his speed. His accuracy in his punching was frightening. Impressive stuff. If I was a heavyweight boxer I wouldn't want to face that in a hurry!

    Saeed

A towel throw in a fight of this magnitude is the worst way Wardley could have gone out. Dubois was the better fighter from the get go but this will damage Wardley for some time now.

    Will

I can’t believe people had wardley winning. Did you lot not see the damage he took in the last fight?

  8. 'I'm the future undisputed champion'published at 23:37 BST 17 October

    Dubois beats Wardley by stoppage

IBF heavyweight champion Filip Hrgovic, speaking on DAZN: "I think Wardley was still damaged from the first fight. He didn't look good from the first bell. I wasn't impressed with him.

"I'm the future undisputed champion. I will smash Dubois in a rematch and I'm coming for the belts."

  9. 'Dubois hurt, stunned and dropped Wardley'published at 23:36 BST 17 October

    Steve Bunce
Boxing expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

The only thing that Daniel Dubois had to do differently was start faster, and he did start faster. There were two minutes and 33 seconds left when Dubois, hurt, stunned and dropped Wardley. Two minutes and 33 seconds is an awful long time. And it showed he was hurt, dazed and confused, and he never regained his feet or his composure, and he can't have a single complaint with what we saw.

  10. 'Something went wrong in camp'published at 23:35 BST 17 October

    Richard Riakporhe

I know Fabio, he's stubborn. I think something went wrong in that camp. He didn't look right. I like to compare to previous fights. Against Joseph Parker, he was a different fighter.

  11. Punch statspublished at 23:32 BST 17 October

    Dubois beats Wardley by stoppage

One astonishing stat for you here...

Daniel Dubois landed 60 shots in the fight despite it only lasting one and a bit rounds.

    Fabio Wardley landed just four.

  12. 'Demolition'published at 23:29 BST 17 October

    Dubois beats Wardley by stoppage

Former cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew said on X: "Demolition! Well done to Daniel Dubois."

  13. 'Are you not entertained?'published at 23:27 BST 17 October

WBO heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, speaking to DAZN: "I hope that you guys were entertained tonight. A great warrior, Fabio. Are you not entertained?"

  14. 'There's no shame in losing to a great competitor'published at 23:22 BST 17 October

    Dubois beats Wardley by stoppage

Fabio Wardley, speaking to DAZN: "It's never fun to lose, but it is what it is. The game is the game. I have always thrown myself in with the best competitors out there, the best in the business, the biggest, hardest, meanest guys around so, there is no shame in a loss when you're testing yourself against the best.

On Daniel Dubois: "Daniel is the testament to coming up short and coming again, and I'll be looking to do the exact same thing."

On the first knockdown in the fight: "Look, you come away, you play with a game plan, you try to adjust some things but it just didn't work for me tonight. It didn't click in the same way, and that is down to me. And it's only a nod and a credit to Daniel for how well he prepared. Boxing is a game of fine margins; it can be done in a round or two, or it can go into a big ole war like last time."

If the fight came too soon: "No, not in the slightest. I just came in and I didn't execute the game plan properly. I hold my hands up to that; that is entirely down to me. When I step through the ropes, it is only myself. It's only me bouncing down in the ring, there's no blame to be passed around. When I win, it's all me as well. There's no shame in losing to a great competitor like Daniel.

A message to fans: "Thank you to everyone who turned out. A sold out 02. A little white-collar boy like me could never have dreamed like this. And thank you to Daniel and his team for two great fights. It wasn't my night, but I'll come back stronger."

  16. 'Fabio was not conditioned for this'published at 23:18 BST 17 October

    Dubois beats Wardley by stoppage

    Richard Riakporhe
British heavyweight champion on BBC Sport's watchalong

Fabio was not conditioned for this. He did not put on the same weight that Dubois did. You can see the fat around the stomach. Something was not right in the camp. I'm going to find out.

  17. 'Next year we are going to see some great fights'published at 23:16 BST 17 October

    Dubois beats Wardley by stoppage

Boxing promoter Frank Warren, speaking to DAZN regarding sending out a message to the rest of the heavyweight division: "All those names are there to do a unification fight next year and that's what we will be working on. We have had a fabulous turnout tonight. I have to say, Fabio Wardley, what a brave guy. His heart is believable, but it was Daniel's night and it was a superb and powerful performance. Next year, we are going to see some great fights."

Pedigree and experience count. Dubois is far from perfect, but he knows his craft and that is enough against an opponent who doesn't.

    Paul

Devastating from Dubois, no question he is the number one heavyweight in the world with Usyk now out of the picture.

    Phill

Wardley reminds me of Joe Joyce out there taken to many heavy shots in is career and now looks shot.

    Glen

  19. 'Big money, big fights'published at 23:12 BST 17 October
