Should alcohol ban in football stands be scrapped?

Andy Burnham has suggested a trial allowing football fans to be able to drink in the stands at matches could happen as he branded the current ban as 'discrimination'.

Laws are in place which prevent drinking in view of the pitch at stadiums for clubs in the top five tiers of men's football in England. Other sports, such as the Women's Super League football and Rugby League do not face such a restriction.

But should it be changed?

Tom Greatrex, Chair of the Football Supporters Association and former Labour MP, says he agrees with the prime minister, while former Chief Constable of the British Transport Police Andy Trotter says "adding more alcohol" into matchday environments is "totally unnecessary".
