The rise in eating disorders within the BAME community
According to NHS Digital more people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities are being admitted to hospital because of eating disorders. Experts say problems should have been picked up much earlier, rather than getting to the point of going to hospital. We hear the experiences of a mother whose daughter has just started treatment and Professor Sandeep Ranote, a psychiatrist and expert on eating disorders. They speak to Paulette Edwards on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.
