Cities can be worlds of surprising opportunity for animals.

  • Rhesus macaques make a living raiding the fruit and veg markets in the city.
  • A huge metropolis bisected by enormous highways that create barriers to animal movement.
  • A peregrine falcon flies through the city streets to deliver a freshly caught meal for its young chicks.
  • Hanuman langurs have swapped treetops for rooftops and they show incredible parkour skills moving around the city.
  • These 50m tall metal structures are alive. They are planted with epiphytes that will grow over the outermost branches.
  • Yusef has taken the relationship with wild hyenas a step further - calling them into his house and feeding them by hand.
  • Wildlife cameraman John Aitchison scans the skies on the lookout for peregrine falcons.
  • Mark MacEwen filming the macaques.
  • One of the busiest metropolises on Earth.
  • Treated as religious deities Hanuman langurs are given all the food they can eat, and this has led to a baby boom.
  • Leopards capitalise on hunting the animals that man brings into the city.
  • One million starlings perform a spectacular aerial dance.
  • This male great bowerbird is attempting to impress a potential mate by showing off his most prized object!
  • This is the start of an important night for this female raccoon.
  • Macaques will take any food or drink they can get their hands on!
  • Turtle hatchlings, disorientated by the city lights, make their way into beachside towns to look for the sea.
