Stravinsky's The Firebird

The London Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Edward Gardner are joined by pianist Tamara Stefanovich for the world premiere of Mark Simpson's piano concerto.

The London Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Edward Gardner are joined by pianist Tamara Stefanovich for the world premiere of Mark Simpson's Piano Concerto, plus the fairytale of love, darkness and dazzling light that is Stravinsky's The Firebird. Also on the programme, a tone poem by the English composer Dorothy Howell based on Keats's poem Lamia.

Recorded last month at the Royal Festival Hall in London and presented by Ian Skelly.
