Shostakovich’s First Cello Concerto from the BBC Proms

The acclaimed Bavarian cellist Maximilian Hornung is at the BBC Proms on Classical today performing Shostakovich’s 1st Cello Concerto; and also in today’s programme, exclusive concert performances from the 2026 Verbier Music Festival, and over in Spain, the Granada Early Music Festival. The award-winning prodigy pianist Yulianna Avdeeva performs Chopin from the famous Swiss summer festival, and there are performances from the virtuoso violinist Marc Bouchkov - recently declared as “one to watch” - with pianist Julien Quentin.
