A Dog Lover’s Legacy Helps a Family Give Back
JB and Saf dig into Joyce’s collections in Yorkshire. JB finds a Victorian cauldron, and Saf turns his hand to fixing coffin stands. All to raise funds for the animals Joyce's late husband Mike loved.
Joyce and her husband Mike spent more than 40 years living together in Guernsey. But after they both faced health challenges, they decided to return to Mike’s beloved home county of Yorkshire for a fresh start. Just months after settling in, tragedy struck when Mike passed away unexpectedly, leaving Joyce heartbroken and surrounded by a lifetime of their shared treasures.
Now, with the support of close friends Brian and Adele, Joyce is ready to let go of some of the old items that have filled her new home. She hopes the auction will help her gain some space, while raising money to support her son’s work rescuing stray dogs in Thailand, honouring the couple’s shared love of animals.
Auctioneer James Broad and restorer Saf Fakir roll up in West Yorkshire to lend a hand. JB uncovers pocket watches, a Victorian cauldron and a trove of jewellery, while Saf takes on three challenging restorations, including an oak coal scuttle, a writing slope and a rare pair of brass coffin stands.
With a big mix of lots heading under the hammer, can JB and Saf help Joyce turn Mike’s collections into a lasting legacy and raise enough to help a cause they cared so deeply about?
