Outgrowing a House Fit to Burst

Bee and Lauren help Ingrid and her daughter Sarah sell family treasures to fund a home extension. Along the way, they uncover hidden oil paintings, silver trophies and heirlooms steeped in love.

Mother and daughter Ingrid and Sarah are ready to take a big emotional step: clearing out a much-loved bungalow beside the family home, packed with antiques and keepsakes collected over generations. The bungalow, which was built for Ingrid’s parents, Thomas and Dagmar, so they could stay close to family, is steeped in memories.

Along with the bungalow, there are also outhouses to sift through with horticulturalist Sarah, and some unexpected finds in the plant nursery too. There may be a fair amount of places to search, but for the family, there’s not much space to live.

With Sarah now raising two young children in an increasingly crowded house, room is running low. By selling cherished heirlooms at auction, Ingrid and Sarah hope to fund an extension, creating two bedrooms where the children can grow and thrive.

Auctioneer Bee Harford is immediately captivated by the family’s rich history. As she searches for standout pieces, she uncovers a fascinating collection shaped by a colourful family lineage that stretches all the way back to Lady Godiva. Hidden behind the sofa, a trio of oil paintings emerges with exciting potential, while a diamond ring sparkles with promise. Each discovery carries not just financial value, but the family’s hopes for the future.

In the workshop, restorer Lauren Wood is under pressure to make key items shine. A battered Victorian campaign chest, once owned by Ingrid’s grandmother, needs careful restoration, while a pair of solid silver trophies must be brought back to their former glory. With the clock ticking, every detail counts.

When auction day arrives, all eyes are on the results. Bee and Lauren are hoping for strong bidding that could turn treasured memories into life-changing funds. Will the silver dazzle? Will the paintings find eager buyers? And when the final hammer falls, will Ingrid and Sarah have the funds to create the space their growing family so desperately needs?
