Claudia Winkleman talks to photographer Gered Mankowitz about his exhibition of prints of Jimi Hendrix in Manchester.
Gered's photos were taken at a pivotal point in Jimi Hendrix's short career. The portraits capture the mystery and otherworldliness defining his public image, just as Gered's 1965-67 portraits of the Rolling Stones defined them as the antithesis of The Beatles. This Hendrix exhibition gives a clear insight into the real Jimi – relaxing, upbeat, smiling and happy.
Claudia also previews this Sunday's British Academy Film Awards with Xan Brooks, where The King's Speech is nominated for 14 awards, including Best Actor for Colin Firth.

Celebrated tenor and regular Britten Sinfonia collaborator Mark Padmore performs with the orchestra in a selection of English works for voice and strings.
The centrepiece of the concert is Gerald Finzi's Dies natalis. Modelled on Bach's cantatas, it contains a spirit and sweetness that reflects the joy and wonder of a child's innocent perspective of the world.
Padmore also sings Purcell songs as realised by Tippett. And the concert opens with Tippett's baroque-inspired Little Music For String Orchestra.
Walton's virtuosic and passionate Sonata For Strings provides a thrilling climax to this journey through English music.
Jacqueline Shave directs the Britten Sinfonia.
