Twin B (aka Alec Boateng) kicks off a new weekday schedule

Twin B (aka Alec Boateng) kicks off a brand-new weekday schedule on BBC Radio 1Xtra, serving up a tasty breakfast show to get the nation's young radio listeners up and ready for the day ahead.

Twin B moves to Breakfast after a successful stint on the weekend morning slot on 1Xtra and he brings his cheeky, energetic style to the show.

Previous Breakfast hosts Trevor Nelson and Gemma Cairney now host their own solo shows in the revamp, with Trevor moving to the 10am-1pm weekday show, featuring the 1Xtra Live Lounge, films and guests, while Gemma takes on weekday afternoons from 1-4pm, focusing on entertainment, celebrity and fashion.

The new daytime weekday schedule is as follows:

7-10am The 1Xtra Breakfast Show With Twin B
10am-1pm Trevor Nelson
1-4pm Gemma Cairney
4-7pm Westwood

Patrick Kielty continues the Val Doonican Story, picking up the tale as the Irish charmer embarks upon a career in television.

Patrick considers the Val Doonican appeal with music and comedy archive plus new interviews from producers and entertainers who have worked with Val down the years. Reflecting on the longevity of his career, Val explains how he managed to keep his feet on the ground and discusses his decision to stop.

Contributors include Sir Terry Wogan, Ronnie Corbett, Lynn Doonican, Yvonne Littlewood, Roger Richards, Jim Moir, John Williams and John Ammonds. BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists the Elias Quartet perform two works by Mozart written a few years before the end of the composer's short life. Book Of The Week – The Invention Of Murder Ep 1/5

The Invention Of Murder explores the 19th-century fascination with violent crime and its commercial exploitation.

During the course of the 19th century, murder became an obsession with British society, providing the subject matter of novels, ballads, theatre and melodrama.

The Invention Of Murder explores this fascination with deadly violence by relating some of the century's most gripping and gruesome cases and the ways in which they were commercially exploited.

One such case was the Ratcliffe Highway murders of 1811 in London's East End. These were two separate sets of killings in which seven people lost their lives. It was a case that shocked the nation; this was half as many as had been murdered in the entire previous year throughout England and Wales, and forced the establishment to rethink the policing of major cities.

Judith Flanders's The Invention Of Murder has been abridged by David Jackson Young. The reader is to be confirmed.

Jenny Eclair stars as Cass Mason, who is finding it hard to be a mother again aged 47, in this comic drama co-written by Jenny with Julie Balloo.

Cass finds she barely has time to blog with a new baby who won't sleep. She fears she's turning into a zombie. The rest of her family are not much help and she wonders if Ken will ever find a job; if her designer-clad sister will even offer to hold a drooling baby; and if her two grown children are really contemplating moving back home.

Cass charts Florence's first year to a backdrop of sibling rivalry, competitive mums and attempting to get her body back into some kind of shape.

Ed Reardon (Christopher Douglas) returns for a new series

BBC Radio 4's most curmudgeonly author is back for a new series, complete with his trusty companion Elgar, his pipe and his never-ending capacity for scrimping and scraping at whatever scraps his agent, Ping, can offer him to keep body, mind and cat together.

Inevitably Ed finds himself once more battling through the week encountering the numerous 12-year-olds who run the media; teaching the lively bunch of pensioners who can show him a thing or two about moneymaking schemes, frugal living and having a good time, thank you very much; and having regular run-ins with the rather successful Jaz Milvane, director of Ed's only ever book-to-screen adaptation.

Austerity has hit Ed hard and he is picking blackberries from the canal towpath for his breakfast. However, things may be looking up as the first episode sees Ed working with the most disturbingly fresh and mesmerisingly compelling voice of his generation, Ben Herbert. Ben has a three-book deal and no time to write them all, so Ed has been drafted in to help him write one of the books, How To Survive With Like No Cash.

When art teacher Rachel bumps into chef Tyrone on his first day in London it is the start of a sunny, passionate love affair. But this is an affair that will take them into much darker places.

Soon it makes sense for Tyrone, now working as a chef in a local upmarket cafe, to move into Rachel's flat. But it's not long before there are tiny bits of grit starting to despoil the love oyster. As things get more serious issues of control, jealousy, trust and violence rise to the surface in this thriller exploring a lesser-known side of domestic abuse, written by Stephanie Dale.

Naomi Frederick plays Rachel, Alex Lanipekun plays Tyrone, Leah Brotherhead plays Tasha, Sally Orrock plays the WPC, Lloyd Thomas plays the policeman and Sean Baker plays the prosecutor.

The Last Refuge goes inside refuges for men who experience domestic violence from their female partners.

Incidents against men are on the rise, but the stigma attached to being a victim remains. There are only 50 refuge places for men in England and Wales, compared to 7,500 for women.

The programme explores whether refuge provision for men is the best way forward. And with incidents against men on the rise, it also looks at society's more critical response to men who are victims of domestic abuse and the complex reasons that makes men stay.

Steve Lamacq welcomes London rock trio White Lies into the BBC 6 Music studios to unveil new songs from their forthcoming album, Ritual.

White Lies beat stiff competition from Florence And The Machine and Empire Of The Sun to take second place in the BBC's Sound Of 2009 poll, and became the first act of 2009 to achieve a No. 1 album. They have drawn comparisons to the likes of Joy Division and Editors.

Live from London Village are Wire. The band are back with a new album, Red Barked Trees, and play tracks for Marc Riley and the listeners.

Red Barked Tree rekindles a lyricism sometimes absent from Wire's previous work and reconnects with the live energy of their performances, harnessed and channelled from extensive touring over the past few years. The new album was conceived, written and recorded mostly during 2010 by the pared-down line-up of Colin Newman, Graham Lewis and Robert Grey.
