Sport Relief: BBC Look North netball team versus Westgate Community College

The ladies from BBC Look North are donning their netball bibs and heading back to school in aid of Sport Relief.

BBC Look North have been challenged to put together a team to take on Westgate Community College's netball team.

On Friday 14 March, journalists and presenters will finish the nightly news broadcast and have a quick change before heading off to the game at 7.15pm.

Also taking part in the netball tournament are teams from Sport England and the Northumbria Netball Super League.

BBC Look North presenter Carol Malia said: "Most of us haven't played netball since we were 16! So we can just about remember the positions, but we'll need to brush up on the rules.

"I think we're going to get pasted, but we're ready for it! As long as we don't completely embarrass ourselves and we're doing our bit for Sport Relief."

Judith Rasmussen, regional director with Sport England North East, said: "It's a great thing that high profile people are raising the awareness of the importance of Sport Relief and of course staying active. We are looking forward to playing on Friday and getting stuck in!

"We will also be raising the profile of women's sports, and promoting a highly successful regional netball community. Not only does it get us up off the sofa and on to the netball court, but we will also be supporting Sport Relief, helping vulnerable people both at home in the UK and across the world's poorest countries."
