Minecraft is getting a fourth dimension

Minecraft fans will soon be able to build in a brand new dimension.

Minecraft currently has three dimensions - the Overworld, the Nether and the End.

But for the first time in more than 14 years, a new dimension is being added, called The Sift.

The game's creators have said The Sift will bring "new dangers, discovery and mystery".

The announcement was made during Minecraft LIVE, an event that details plans for the game in the months ahead.

The first look players will get of The Sift will be in Minecraft Dungeons 2, which is releasing on Tuesday 29 September.

Minecraft Dungeons 2 is a different type of game to Minecraft.

It's a dungeon crawler, where you fight your way through a labyrinth solving puzzles along the way.

But from 2027, you'll be able to visit The Sift in the main Minecraft game.

We don't know a lot about what The Sift will be like, and we don't know yet how players will be able to travel to it from other areas of the game.

However, it has been confirmed The Sift will have brand new biomes.

In all the dimensions, areas called biomes have their own unique environment with different plants and characters.

For example, in the Overworld there are different ocean and forest biomes.

Minecraft's developers Mojang Studios have said there will be more in The Sift, including two called Meadows and Carapace, but the rest are being kept a secret for now.

There were a few other things for Minecraft fans to look forward to announced by its creators at the event.

The first look was given of a themed rollercoaster in Minecraft World, which will open at Chessington World of Adventures in 2027.

And it was announced that Minecraft is going to be available on Nintendo Switch 2 from 27 October.
