David Attenborough, Strictly and Michael McIntyre win big at TV awards

Joel from the Masked Singer was the host, but this year his show didn't win anything.

The National Television Awards (NTAs) are designed to celebrate the best telly of the year and are voted for by the public.

This year's awards show took place at the O2 Arena in London and was hosted by Joel Dommett for the sixth year running.

While loads of celebs turned up, only a few big names went home with a trophy.

David Attenborough beat Ant and Dec, Strictly beat BGT and Bake Off, and it was a mixed night for Michael McIntyre. Let's find out more.

One of the biggest prizes on the night is for best TV presenter.

That saw 23-time winners Ant and Dec face off against Sir David Attenborough, Alison Hammond, Claudia Winkleman and Stacey Solomon.

And it was Sir David who won, being named Best Presenter in his 100th birthday year.

While he wasn't able to attend in person, he sent a message urging people to help protect the planet.

"Humanity has always needed the natural world for all the practicalities of life and for our mental wellbeing," he wrote.

"Now the natural world needs us too; surely we must not ignore that simple fact."

Former England Lioness Karen Carney won last year's Strictly.

Elsewhere Strictly Come Dancing won the Best Talent Show prize up against Britain's Got Talent, The Great British Bake Off, the GBBO Stand Up To Cancer special, and the Great Pottery Throw Down.

Meanwhile Michael McIntyre's Big Show won the Entertainment Show award, beating both Gladiators and The Masked Singer.

But Michael lost out to The 1% Club, which beat his show, The Wheel, to Best Quiz.
