Manchester City have completed the signing of Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea for a joint-British transfer record £125m.

The Argentina midfielder worked with new City manager Enzo Maresca when the Italian coach was in charge at Chelsea.

He signed a five year deal with the club saying: "I give absolutely everything and I can promise Manchester City that will continue now I'm here."

Fernandez's fee matches the one set when Liverpool signed striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United last year.

The move also makes Fernandez Manchester City's most expensive signing, beating the £116 million they paid for England midfielder Elliot Anderson earlier this summer.

After the move was announced, Fernandez said he couldn't wait to get started at his new club.

"I could not be happier to be here, and I am ready for the challenge of helping City continue winning trophies. This is a club built for success," he explained.

Fernandez added: "If you look across the squad, City have quality in every area. I want to learn from my new teammates and become a better player."

The 25-year-old has become the first player in football history to be sold for more than £100 million twice in his career.

He joined Chelsea in 2023 for a then-British record fee of £106.8 million.
