Sirens sounded across Kyiv shortly after midnight and I heard loud explosions, likely to have been air defences trying to shoot down incoming missiles.

A second air raid alert woke people here around 3am.

Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said the city was under Russian ballistic missile attack and medical teams were responding.

A warehouse on the outskirts was on fire and one person was reported hurt.

A children’s hospital was also struck but the patients and staff were sheltering.

Ukrainian officials say Russia fired 120 drones overnight and a range of different missiles, but for the first time they’ve not given a number of missiles fired or intercepted.

It follows an Air Force statement yesterday urging the media not to write “sensationalised headlines” or “spread pessimism” about the shortage of air defence interceptors, though the same statement referred to “the challenges due to lack of anti-ballistic weaponry”.

President Zelensky has warned of the danger of Russia bringing in troops and weapons from North Korea - both to Ukraine and the rest of the world.

In a video address on Monday evening, Zelensky said "for the first time" Russia "cannot wage war without reinforcements from North Korea".

"The more North Korean strikes there are here in Ukraine, in Europe, the more their missiles and soldiers are used, the more they correct their shortcomings and blind spots", Zelensky said, adding that this poses a danger to the rest of the world.

In the same address, he also hailed the successful air strike on a Russian petrochemical plant in western Siberia yesterday as a "very significant achievement" by the Ukrainian military.

He promised "more Ukrainian deep strikes, which should demonstrate to Russia and the Russians that peace is necessary".

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says the overnight strikes on Zaporizhzhia involved North Korean ballistic missiles.

In a post on X, he describes it as a "vicious attack, calculated to inflict maximum damage specifically on civilian infrastructure".

As we've been reporting, six were killed and 19 injured in the region.

In Kyiv, Zelensky says a strike damaged an infectious disease hospital. Meanwhile, strikes on substations in Kherson and Kharkiv resulted in power outages, he adds.

"Every step Russia takes - increasing ballistic missile production, bringing in North Korean equipment, preparing for mobilization - all of this shows that Moscow is preparing not for peace, but for escalation," he says, calling on allies to respond with sanctions and air defences.

The drone attack on a Wildberries warehouse in Russia's Voronezh region is the latest in Ukraine's campaign against the Russian retailer.

Russia's Orenburg region has been attacked by Ukrainian drones with a fire breaking out at an industrial facility, according to the regional governor Yevgeny Solntsev.

"Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. Emergency services are working at the scene," he writes on Telegram. He says eight drones have been shot down.

As we've been reporting, separate unverified images on Telegram appear to show smoke at an oil refinery in Orsk - a city in Orenburg.

Russia's defence ministry has confirmed it launched strikes on "defence industry" targets and transport and logistic centres in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia overnight.

Meanwhile, it says it "intercepted and destroyed" 396 Ukrainian drones over 15 regions of Russia.

As we've been reporting, Ukraine says six were killed in Zaporizhzhia and 19 injured. One was injured in Kyiv when a warehouse caught fire, according to emergency services.

These are the latest images coming to us after Russia and Ukraine carried out more strikes overnight.

As well as the reported attack on the Wildberries site, there have also been reports of fires at energy plants deep into Russian territory.

Unverified images on Telegram show smoke at a thermal power plant in Angarsk in the Irkutsk region, and separate posts show smoke at an oil refinery in Orsk.

There were also unconfirmed reports of a fire at a refinery at Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Khabarovsk, in the far east of Russia.

Ukraine has carried out attacks deep into Russian territory in recent days.

On Monday, President Zelensky said a refinery in Tobolsk, Siberia was hit. "The distance was significant – more than 2,500 kilometres," he said.

Meanwhile, local officials said on Monday at least 13 people were killed in a Ukrainian drone strike more than 1,000 kilometres into Russia.

The strike overnight from Sunday into Monday in the region of Tatarstan injured more than 75.

A drone attack in Russia’s Voronezh region has killed one and injured two overnight, according to regional governor Alexander Gusev.

One of those injured was at "a large logistics centre", Gusev writes on Telegram.

He adds that fires broke out at "two warehouses belonging to a major company".

Wildberries - known as "Russia's Amazon" - said this morning that its facilities had been attacked.

"The fire that broke out as a result of an attack on the company's logistics facilities in the Voronezh region has been extinguished. Fire crews continue to work at the site," the retailer said on Telegram.

Facilities were evacuated in advance, it adds, and "goods were mostly unaffected".

The company has been repeatedly targeted by Ukraine in recent weeks.

In Zaporizhzhia, six people were killed and 19 injured according to the regional governor. Ivan Fedorov says rockets and guided aerial bombs were used in the strikes.

In Kyiv, mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported explosions, saying the capital was under "ballistic attack" on Monday night. Ukraine's emergency service said a warehouse caught fire and one person was wounded.

In the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region, three people were killed and five injured in Russian drone and artillery strikes, regional military administration head Oleksandr Ganzha said on Telegram.
