Working with producers
We invested £1.5 billion in original TV content and £400 million in original Radio content, working with 310 independent production companies in TV and 269 in Radio, reinforcing our role as the single largest investor in the UK creative sector. Across TV and Radio we invested £196m of our commissioning budget in content that met our creative diversity criteria, and through the Diversity Development Fund we supported more than 80 companies across the UK and over 100 individuals in mid to senior-level roles.

Representation and portrayal
We are focused on authentically reflecting the breadth of the UK, strengthening representation across protected characteristics, class and geography. This year we invested £447.5m on TV titles qualifying on creative diversity portrayal criteria only.

Across the UK
Over the past year, investment outside London remained a key focus, with 59% of Network TV commissioning spend in the Nations and English regions, while almost 70% of Network TV hours qualified as regional productions, exceeding the BBC’s quota of 50%. Radio commissioning also continued to grow outside the capital, with 45.8% of Network Radio commissioning spend in the Nations and English regions.

Sustainability
We remained the foremost media provider, on any platform, of environmental content in the UK, and continue to educate and inform audiences about our planet, bringing together our Climate Content Pledge with our Net Zero target to form ambitious measures for us and our producers.
