Using the future tense will help you describe things that will happen later on or things that you plan to do, such as:
- what you will be doing tomorrow, and
- what you plan to do during the holidays.

How to use the future tense in Welsh, focusing on different forms of 'bod'.
We use the future tense to talk about the things we will be doing.
The future of the verb 'bod' ('to be') is 'bydd'.
So 'I will be' in Welsh is 'Bydda i'.
'Bydda i'n hwyr.'
'Bydda i'n chwarae pêl-droed.'
The 'bydd' pattern changes depending on who is doing the action:
Bydda i
Byddi di
Bydd e / Bydd o
Bydd hi
Bydd Rhys
Byddwn ni
Byddwch chi
Byddan nhw
'Bydda i'n nofio.'
'Bydd Owen yn rhedeg.'
'Byddwn ni'n bwyta.'
To ask a friend a question you use a soft mutation:
'Fyddi di…?' = 'Will you…?'
'Fyddi di'n siopa heno?'
You can answer – 'Byddaf, dw i'n caru siopa!'
Or to respond with a negative answer in the future tense it's 'Na, fydda i ddim'.
'Fyddi di'n mynd i'r gêm yfory?'
'Na, fydda i ddim, dw i ddim yn hoffi rygbi.'

In Welsh, when talking about something that will happen, we use different forms of the verb ‘bod’ (to be) to show us who will be doing the action.
The different forms of ‘bod’ tells us that the action will happen in the future, as well as who is doing the action.
Add a word or phrase to the correct form of ‘bod’ to complete the meaning of the sentence.
You will need to use ‘yn’ to link the correct form of ‘bod’ with the rest of the sentence.
Using the future tense
When talking about things that will happen, you will need to use the future tense.
In Welsh, if you are doing the action, start the sentence with ‘Bydda i’. It means ‘I will be’ or ‘I will’.
For example:
Check your connection, refresh the page and try again.(I will enjoy)
Different forms
‘Bydda i’ comes from the Welsh verb ‘bod’, which means ‘to be’.
The form of ‘bod’ you will need to use changes depending on who is doing the action.
Singular:

| You will be | Byddi di |
| He will be | Bydd o / Bydd e |
| She will be | Bydd hi |
To name the person doing the action, you will use the following form:
Bydd Rhys(Rhys will be).
Plural:
| We will be | Byddwn ni |
| You will be | Byddwch chi |
| They will be | Byddan nhw |
Forming a sentence
Once you know which form of ‘bod’ you need, add ‘yn’ after it.
When ‘yn’ comes after a word ending in a vowel, it joins onto that word and becomes ‘’n’.
‘’n’ is just a shorter form of ‘yn’.
Examples:
Bydda i+yn+chwarae → Check your connection, refresh the page and try again.(I will play)
Byddan nhw+yn+adeiladu → Check your connection, refresh the page and try again.(They will build)
Asking a question
To ask someone a question in the future tense, you could use this pattern:
Check your connection, refresh the page and try again.(Will you be… ?)
Extra attention
Notice how the ‘B’ at the beginning of ‘Byddi’ has changed into ‘F’. This is a soft mutation.
Again, you will need to add in ‘yn’ before completing the question.
Example:
Fyddi di+yn+gwylio? → Check your connection, refresh the page and try again.(Will you be watching?)
Answering a question
To answer a ‘Fyddi di… ?’ question, you can simply say:

| Na, fydda i ddim | No, I won’t be |
Example:
Check your connection, refresh the page and try again.(Will you be going to Swansea?)
Check your connection, refresh the page and try again.(Yes, I will be.)
Check your connection, refresh the page and try again.(No, I won’t be.)
