Electrolysis of molten salts

"This video explains how electrolysis is used to split apart molten salts into separate elements. Electrolytes are substances that conduct electricity when they are molten or dissolved in solution. When we connect a direct current (DC), the electricity forces the electrolyte to break down into its elements.
