StageWrite is Bedford’s only New Writing Initiative and which is currently receiving submissions for the next StageWrite, taking place in Bedford on 04th October 2026. The initiative is aimed at new and emerging playwrights who would like the opportunity to see their work realised in front of a live audience, and engage in a Q&A with the audience, director and writers. Previous plays have gone on to full production at Bedfringe and Reading Fringe Festival. StageWrite is free to enter and is run on a voluntary basis by LifeBox and No Loss Productions in conjunction with The Place Bedford.
Submission Brief
- Scripts should be between 25 and 45 minutes run time.
- Plays should require no more than 6 actors to perform.
- There is no age limit and we particularly welcome submissions from the Global Majority and LGBTQIA+ communities.
- Plays should not have been performed elsewhere previously.
Please note, should your submission be selected, you are expected to attend the event at The Place Theatre, Bedford on 04th October 2026 to be part of the feedback process and engage in dialogue with the actors and audience.
2 plays will be selected to be performed.

The submission window is open now and will remain open until 1st June 2026. Due to the volume of submissions received, any entries received after this date will not be considered.
