UNDER 10’S YELLOW DIVISION

A hat trick for Worton and Cheverell’s Ethan Hyslop, his first for the club, plus two goals each for David Vick and Jordan Wildman and one from Sam Jones did not give a wholly accurate picture of their home game against Trowbridge Town Youth Pumas. The Pumas gave a spirited performance and should have scored their first goals of the season but for a lack of scoring confidence and good defending by Henry Littleworth and Luke Tyler plus Jack Dixon in goal. Praise should be given to the Trowbridge Town Pumas who enjoyed the game and were still smiling at the end despite all their efforts going unrewarded which is the perfect spirit for mini soccer in Wiltshire.

In a competitive game Trowbridge Town Wasps made their superior possession tell against Derry Hill United with the hard working midfield of John Carroll, Kieran Mccaldon and Aaron Patrick laying on some excellent chances for Alex De Silva and Joshua Moss up front. De Silva converted Trowbridge’s first goal with a calm finish from close in after a long throw in from John Carroll. Trowbridge’s defence was tested on several occasions by a determined Derry Hill side but solid tackles from Andrew Rendall and Oliver Winchcombe prevented any comeback from the home side before Joshua Moss grabbed the Wasps second with a snap shot into the bottom corner for the visitors to go in 2-0 up at the break. The second half was a similar story with Mike Reynolds, Corey Smitherman and Conor Stevens all going close for Trowbridge before Derry Hill broke away and only a brave tackle from the backtracking Jack Miluk prevented the home side from pulling one back.
