| Legendary 1984 charity single 'Do They Know it's Christmas' is shortly to be recorded for the third time by a host of contemporary stars of the British music scene. Acts such as Coldplay, Keane, Robbie Williams and The Darkness will get together for 'Band Aid 20' at Abbey Road Studios in London on Sunday 14th December to record the song which it is hoped will land the coveted number one slot this Christmas. Overseeing the project is original Band Aid producer and writer Midge Ure who has taken over the reins from Bob Geldof. BBC Radio Swindon's Sandy Martin recently spoke exclusively to Midge to find out why he decided to resurrect Band Aid and how the new version will differ to those recorded in 1984 and 1989. Maybe its just my age but the 1984 version is far superior to the new one, or is it the artist new how to sing then ? John
Musicians often think they can save the world. But the fact is it's the people who buy the single who will make the difference, not the pop stars. All they do is sing, and it's a shame this time they did a bad job of that, with a poor quality single their result. | | SEE ALSO
