 | | Moorcroft asked us all if we'd like to produce a watercolour design for a vase-shape... and, for a suggested minimum donation of £5 per entry, which went to CIN, three hundred of you did.
See winning sixty designs
Over sixty finally-finished vases from the winning designers then went to a special auction, raising some £35,970 on the night. Top price was £2,500 - with eight of the 65 designs getting bids of over £1,000 apiece.
It's believed dozens of Moorcroft collectors turned up for the chance to buy some of these unique creations - thus pushing up the prices. | Eric Knowles | The auction itself was run by Eric Knowles from the BBC's Antiques Roadshow on hand to handle the formalities.
All proceeds from the auction will go to Children In Need, as will the donations from the artists whose work was not, finally, successful in getting to auction status. Another £300 was raised in loose cash on the night.
Sixty vases
The top 60 designs were decided by Moorcrofts Senior Designer Rachel Bishop (pictured right).
She then supervised the making of sixty specially produced vases, each one carrying one of the successful designs.
On thing though - they've made apot of money for Children In Need.

Moorcroft got entries from schoolchildren as much as art students, from the elderly as much as the young.
They also got entries from all over the country.
If you have any questions, please email Tim Beech Moorcroft The Stoke on Trent firm Moorcroft is said by many to be the worlds leading art pottery. With some pieces already more than 106 years old, Moorcroft still relies on the quality of its designs.
With a young Design Studio and a workforce with an average age of less than 36, Moorcroft is among the leaders in the ceramic revival in Britain today, resisting pressures to move production away to China and the Pacific rim.
