| | The Miss England contest has had some controversy in the past - but Kelly Thorpe is happy to say she thinks it's a good idea.
Because she was aiming to be Miss World in the global finals in China in December.
 First though, Kelly (picture, right), a fashion model with a degree from the London School Of Economics, had to claim the national crown.
With a little help from the Stafford-based Francesco hairdressing group, which is providing her with sponsorship, she made it through the regional final, and she's in with the big boys (er.. girls.).
In fact she got through the regional finals thanks to an internet decision, so she wanted her supporters back on the net again.
Your chance to vote
This year, Miss England was at least partly decided by public votes - like the Big Brother scenario.
However, it was not to be - despite a late burst in the voting, she lost out to entrants from the larger cities.
Winning or not didn't bother our Kelly too much though.
She's doing work, as it is, for Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and Eve, so she's doing nicely thank you.
But a trip to China? That would have been a bonus after all!
