GB's Taylor-Brown wins Czech leg of World Series

Great Britain's Georgia Taylor-Brown produced a dominant display to win the final women's event of the regular World Championship Triathlon Series (WCTS) in the Czech Republic.
The 32-year-old finished the punishing hilly course at Karlovy Vary 36 seconds in front of the United States' Taylor Spivey, finishing the 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run in two hours three minutes five seconds.
Germany's reigning champion Lisa Tertsch came third, one minute 28 seconds behind Taylor-Brown, while Britain's Beth Potter was sixth.
In the men's race, Britain's Alex Yee produced a stunning run to finish second, just 10 seconds behind French winner Dorian Coninx.
The reigning Olympic champion was in 19th place after the bike, but clawed back two minutes on the pace-setters to claim his best result of the season, after finishing fifth in Yokohama and 14th in London.
Yee's team-mate, Jack Willis, was 20th.
'I didn't think I was ever going to get there again'
Taylor-Brown also produced her best performance of the WCTS season to claim a first victory on the tour since 2023.
"I'm quite emotional about it," she said, after battling through wet conditions on a day when over a quarter of the field did not finish.
"I didn't think I was ever going to get there again to be honest. I kind of settled for playing with the girls in the front and being in the top six, so I'm just really happy I could make the race today."
The 2020 Olympic silver medallist has concentrated on longer distances this season, winning on the T100 tour in Spain in May.
Taylor-Brown's previous best result in the WCTS this season was fourth in Samarkand in April.
Compatriot Potter, who went into the event in second place in the overall standings, finished down in sixth, almost two-and-a-half minutes back.
Of the other British competitors, Kate Waugh was 10th, Sian Rainsley 14th and Olivia Mathias failed to finish.
Sunday's results meant that Potter was unable to reduce the deficit to overall leader Cassandra Beaugrand, of France, who chose not to compete.
Beaugrand leads the women's championship with a maximum 4,000 points going into the WCTS Grand Finals in Pontevedra, Spain, on 26 September.
