Gloucester name ex-prop Bower as scrum coach

Gloucester have named former Worcester loose-head prop Ryan Bower as their scrum coach for the 2026-27 season.

The 35-year-old made more than 100 appearances for the Warriors and also played for Leicester Tigers, as well as spending a season with Dallas Jackals in the USA, before retiring in 2022.

He has most recently been working with Champ side Hartpury RFC as scrum and breakdown coach, a role he will continue to hold alongside working with the Cherry and Whites.

Bower comes in following the departure of Trevor Woodman this summer and joins Joel Tomkins and Brett Deacon in joining Gloucester's backroom staff for the new campaign.

"It's hugely advantageous for us to have a specialist coach working across all levels of our pathway," said head coach George Skivington.

"Ryan will have regular contact time with all our best front row talent from the academy right through to senior so we can ensure cohesion and consistency across the programme."
